I took my 5 and 2.5 year old boys here, and it was perfect for both ages. It reminds me of a very comprehensive and well thought out pre school set up - on steroids! Loads of different activities to keep them interested and busy. You are able to take your own food as there is a lunch room provided . The exterior is not much to look at but don't let that deter you. Good parking behind the building. They also have experiment presentations throughout the day. If science is not your kids things, it doesn't matter, there is so much on offer they'll be engaged too.

Excellent Museum, you could play with old dial phone, vacuum transport token, spring transport token system. You could touch and play with the display item.Don't miss the life experience of Nikola Tesla's Tesla Coil. It's amazing.A nice place to spend 2-3 hours. The Museum is running by a group of volunteers, no support from Council or government.

Highly recommended! A great treat for the family. This is a HANDS ON museum which makes it pure joy for kids of all ages. This is small but the staff engagement and ability to touch things makes it the best old fashioned musseum I've seen in New Zealand, far better than the similar old fashion area at Auckland 's MOTAT. It is very economic for a family of 5 and you could easily spend half a day here. My 3 children are aged 6 to 11 and all loved it (this rarely happens as there is always 1 that disagrees). They had a tesla coil, the tardis, engines, old vehicles (that you can sit on), old wood work tools, musical instruments, old communication boards, traffic light systems, old shops, toys, and so much more. A must see for the family in napier!

Highly recommend! My 2 year old granddaughter was fully engaged for hours. Loved exploring the different areas. This place ticks all the boxes Nathan Wallis (early childhood educator) has to say about free play.

Wow! I don't know what child would not love this place as my 2 boys had such a nonstop fun time here for 2 1/2 hours straight yesterday. I was able to bring our own packed morning tea and lunch into the family lunch kitchen area and make a cup of tea for myself aswell. Toilets were easily accessible and it all felt very homely after a while. My boys enjoyed dressing up and launching into space, learning about the human body and discovering a whole new sensory experience. Well done for creating and sharing such an incredible learning space for the kids all with an inviting welcome from the front desk. I can see so much hard work goes in here and we will definitely be back again in the next few weeks! Lauren
