Picturesque setting - outdoor area with tables where you could sit back & relax & enjoy tasty wine (vegan friendly). Ordered the Vegan platter with selection of Vegan cheese, olives, chutney, semi dried tomatoes, pickles & more with breads…AMAZING! Friendly, relaxing and delicious!

We stayed in the Blush Luxury Cabin for two nights and unfortunately we were disappointed with the replenishing and house keeping of our Cabin. We filled out the form and left it as instructed and nothing was replenished, I then checked with the staff and was given another form and still our Cabin wasn't made up or cleaned, comments were made about it being harvest season so staff were otherwise busy. The level of service did not justify the price paid and we were left feeling we would have had a better experience elsewhere it was a shame as the cenery was stunning and it was our wedding anniversary weekend.

We loved everything about our visit to Matawhero Wines. We stayed in one of the new pod/cabins next to the cellar door and had a great weekend. We rented e-bikes in town and rode out to the winery (friendly business owner locals and taxis were helpful with rides when we needed them over the weekend). We knew that we liked the Matawhero Wines that are stocked in our local wineshop, but we loved the special varieties we tasted on site and we joined the wine club and ordered a case that was shipped home for us. The cellar door was cozy and welcoming, the platters were delicious, the history of chardonnay in NZ that started right there at Matawhero was super interesting, owner gave us tons of info as we asked questions. We really liked the little cabin, also cozy with great amenities, and a simple stocked kitchen so you can make a meal or two there. The winery and cabins are at the end of a winding road, so even though you are close to the action of the cellar door, when it shuts down at 4 pm it is lovely and peaceful by the vineyards. Highly recommend.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon and had a tasting flight with a platter and we enjoyed it. The wines were enjoyable and the platter was mostly just store bought cheese and meats put on a platter, but the building and front lawn was so peaceful and relaxing. They also have a cool cellar with old NZ wines that is free to tour. We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend going.

Nice little church house with plenty of character. Platter for two was very generous. Wine and food were delicious and the service was fantastic. We each had a tasting rack and shared a bottle of gewurztraminer. Bought a few bottles of wine to take home with us as well. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Friendly service and pretty surroundings we were there when it was raining but I imagine on a sunny day it would be beautiful outside. We did the wine tasting and it was yum! The wines all come out in racks which is unique. It is a little out of town and taxis are $$ so I recommend having a designated driver

Arrived to 6-7 empty tables thinking the two of us could enjoy a glass of wine or a tasting. We were asked if we had a booking and were told they had no space available... no effort was made to seat us inside or out or even at the bar. Just completely bizzare and reflective of most places we have visited in gisborne hospitality... really really disappointing.

Lovely wee spot - stopped in unexpectedly after a change of plans and the owners were so helpful and accommodating - made sure we were well looked after! Peaceful luxury small cabins overlooking the vines and delicious wine.
