The Old Parakao Store Cafe/Bar
Me and the fam drove past this place and thought it looked pretty cool and thought we’d have a look. I walked in and thought this place looks epic. I should ask to see if I could take a few photos to which I was told I’d have to pay “Koha” if I wasn’t gonna eat anything. I mean ok I get it but this could have been done in a much more pleasant and welcoming way. The way this was communicated made me think I wasn’t welcome and as a consequence I didn’t want to stay. Up until this point I really was thinking about getting a drink or an ice cream and enjoying the atmosphere but as a consequence of this interaction it killed my enthusiasm to stay. But I’ll be sure to come back to see if the service has improved as I would love to stay for a drink and maybe even some food. It’s often the people who make or break an establishment.

The Old Parakao Store Cafe/Bar
This place is awesome! I live in Whangarei but would happily make a trip out just to dine here again. We had a group of 9 and the food came out in a timely manner and everything and everyone’s meals were cooked to perfection. Pricing was great for the food you got, I’ll say that I haven’t yet found a burger in Whangarei better than theirs. Thanks team for the awesome experience!

Amazing place! Lots of antique items, good food and cozy fireplace. My friends and I rode from Auckland on a sunny day and it was totally worth it.

A rough diamond in the countryside. Interesting place to visit with classic old american cars in various states of restoration. Friendly owners and nice food.

The old Parakao store, cafe and bar is something worth visiting. Heaps of local history being the old garage with plenty of memorabilia to view. Great bar and food choices and very friendly staff. A destination for many enthusiasts. If you are lucky there may even be a band playing. If you are in this neck of the woods you must stop and take it all in.

Have been pass here a number of times but was the 1st time I stopped there on the 5.12.20. Awesome store with many memorabilia, antics, a blast from the past, fantastic service, great menu a very pleasant time to be had here.
