We only checked out the place by car for the future when looking to bring the motorhome across the hill, but we will be back soon, to stay a day or two. Limited views of the sea and coastline, but all good for viewing the great sunsets. Facilities available

Nice location by the river, close to town. Can get a bit dusty on hot days. The cabin is a great facility, thanks to the local volunteers! Idea: could we have water and a dump station please?

Southside Hokitika NZMCA Park
Great spot for an NZMCA Member. Just a walk or bike across the bridge and you are in the township and a little further takes you out to the point with stunning views north and south. If you have a bike jump on the bike trails only minutes away Short drive to the Tree Top walk which we believe is a must do. If you have your whitebait kit and arrive early enough you might just find a spot to cast your net, if you a very lucky.

Great place. Short walk to Hokitika across the bridge. Not too far to travel to Hans Bay @ Lake Kaniere (20km) then 15km bike ride to Cowboys Paradise along a rough gravel road. Allow 1 1/2 hours minimum to get to cowboys from Hans Bay. NOT impressed with the owner at cowboy paradise. Rude and abusive language. Not worth the ride to get there. This Edit 15/03/2033.Cycle Trail South from the gates into the NZMCA site and will take you to Treetop Walkway and further if you need a good energetic ride. Also close to the local golf course for the golfers.

Stayed 2 nights , close to the township. Got heaps of rubbish bins available . Tidy camp . Roughly 85per cent full .

Southside Hokitika NZMCA Park
NZMCA typical campsite, but open to the westerlies. Handy location, no water or dump station though. Huge room, well furnished, for happy hour or just chilling.
