Previously had gained a degree and Dip HE in the UK and Middlesex University which I completed and qualified. Spent 3 years at Weltec accumulated a $32000 in debt and ended up with no qualifications. Had a good attendance rate, was engaged in classes. The issue was support. When I was studying Architectural Tech the tutor would show up, tell us what she wanted, and then disappear to her office. She did not know ArchiCAD (only one tutor did and he didn't teach us).Was diagnosed with ADHD and got almost no assistance that was applicable to my course. When I ended up with Serotonin Syndrome, of which I had been studying with (google it, its impossible to study with) I got an extension, but no assistance to help me with work.Moral of the story. Weltec is a cookie cutter institute. They provide a recipe and expect all students to follow the recipe and qualify without taking into account the needs of the student. They were absolutely awful to deal with. They told me that I'd had more tutorial time than others and that they would not provide any more face to face time with a tutor, or assistance with ArchiCAD and suggested I get help from peers rather than the Tutors.Don't waste your money on them. One of the biggest regrets of my entire life and I'm still in debt.

After attending this polytechnic I would not recommend it to others, I choose a non traditional female career. It was a regular occurrence to be belittle as a woman by other students, also by my tutor & other staff members. After laying a complaint the harassment was more subtle. Suffice to say I have found the industry also to reflect these values. I have been unable to secure an apprenticeship & are temping

Making complaints must be made easier and addressing them, transparent. Writing letters are a thing of past.Absolutely hopeless institution, DO NOT BELIEVE published details on their website, they are capable of and will change course structure and duration to suit them and then ask for more fees. My son enrolled into one which was under 'Fees Free' and they messed up his course arrangement due to their organizations restructure and asked him to pay, we complained several times, spoke to their executive secretary who said someone will call me and instead I received an email asking to write my Complaint and the Registrar Martin says I was rude. Raise a complaint and make yourself clear then you're 'Rude'. You need to introduce more than one mechanism for a complaint Mr. Martin.PLEASE DON'T GO TO THIS INSTITUTE OR SEND YOUR WARD HERE IF YOU CARE ENOUGH FOR THEM, INSTEAD CHOOSE ANY OTHER GOOD ALTERNATIVE.

I had a very positive experience with WELTEC. From the admin staff, head of departments and lecturers - great people and super helpful. I did mechanical engineering level 3 and was very happy with the quality of training I received. I found a job even before the program concluded.Much of your experience will depend on your own attitude. Great job WELTEC(Thanks Richie!!)

Review 2 starsWhile I am currently studying there, I have decided to pull out for a few main reasons.Lack of support in the classroomBullying via emailDiscrimination of learning pacesAnd impatientnessThere is a huge lack of support in the classroom particularly in the maths department. My tutor didnt understand that I was a week late and decided to fail me on the spot despite me saying I'm a week late" to him over 40 times before lockdown. Furthermore

Completed a welding course aimed at hobbyists at Weltec - super awesome. They do a great job with the funding they have. More people making things in New Zealand needs encouragement and support...

Very good polytechnic with practical training, professional tutors, supportive staff and international environment. I enjoyed my learning a lot when I was studying there.

I graduated from this faculty a few years ago. The premises are good and some of the tutors are at the top of their field. However, some courses are not up to scratch with the real world and you might struggle when entering the workforce. It is now merged with Whitireia and it would be interesting to see what the future has in store.

Polytechnic training facility in Petone, great staff, relaxed atmosphere, not a huge place and smaller class sizes than at Universities. Sister Polytechnic is Whitereia in Porirua. If you're looking for a quality education in NZ, I'd recommend them.
