Kauaeranga Valley Christian Camp

Nice setting, range of activities, but little to no support from staff leaving all activities being run by parents with minimal instruction.This felt inclusive as a parent, but a risky approach for some of the more dangerous activities.The feeling “being left to it” was corroborated at the end of our camp the centre leader gathered the instructors for the kids to say “thank you”, yet the kids didn’t recognise any of them..There is no recycling on site and in this day and age of climate crisis the camp seemed very behind. When asking a staff member about this, the response was blaming New Zealand as not taking recycling “seriously as they do in Canada” where they were from.As a Christian camp many of the parents agreed that recycling and leading by example would definitely be what Jesus would do in caring for the planet.

The best School camp I have ever been on. The catering for our allergies has been amazing, with beautiful deserts as well. Lots of challenges for the children...over all a wonderful experience. Camp Staff all friendly and helpful.Thank you

This is a great camp! Hosts are friendly and foods great (had to stop myself eating too much!) the river and water hole is great for swimming. The gym has a full size basketball court!! My favorite past time. The go carts and archery are wonderful for young kids and old. Highly recommend.

Kauaeranga area, a fabulous team of great Christian people. Adventure oppurtunities for all ages. Recommend this clean, friendly and accessable camp to all Christian children and teenagers. Well supervised. Will be sending my grand daughters every summer.

Just came back and had so much fun! Loved the songs, staff, activites, and everything!

Great variety of activities for our school camp group but a lack of maintenance was evident throughout the camp, both in the buildings and equipment. The bunk rooms were unclean and unfortunately had a cockroach issue. (I know the outgoing campers are expected to clean facilities prior to departure but this shouldn’t be relied upon as the only cleaning prior to a new group arriving.) The involvement from camp staff in activities was minimal which gave the students a sense of independence but, for some activities in particular, it shifted an unreasonable level of responsibility to the parents in attendance. The indoor gym facility, the cross games activity, and water slides were all hugely popular with the kids. And the lunches and dinners were excellent.

This is a wonderful place. Themed holiday camps for primary school children are managed perfectly.

If you ever have a school camp then this place is good. The activities fornkids include kayaking, BMX, rafting, low ropws confidence course, water slides, raft building, air rifles and a big gymnasium should the weather gods open up on you. There are a lot of local attractions close by like the Pinnacles. Unfortunately due to some heavy rain, some ofnthe track has washed out so used the track up behind Thames Hospital which is a loop track of about 5hrs. A bit boggy in some places so boots are essential. Sufficient for 8yr olds up.
