Doggies & Moggies

Our two dogs stayed here over New Years and they had a great time. Bill and Sue were really accomodating to our nearly 17 year old lab, Wellington, who needed a bit of extra care and Duke, who was quite nervous. They knew exactly what to do. Thank you, we’ll be back again. Recommended!

A well set up facility and great value! Loved that my dog gets to socialise and play in the yard; the sleeping area is very well set up too with comfortable beds. The owners are very genuine and helpful people. I have had experience with a number of kennels during 8 years with my dog, this is a kennel I highly recommend.

We placed our American Bull Dog with this Kennel on Friday 5th February as we were heading down to Auckland, returning on Monday 8th February. I asked if we could bring our boys own food and the owner said no need to as we feed them Arcana and I don't like to deal with wet food as it brings the flies". Normally one doesn't change a dogs diet overnight and our boy is used to his raw food

Went to enquire about leaving our dogs there for a few days. Dogs seemed happy in the exercise area. Interacting well and none seemed upset or distressed. Was expecting an odor inside the sleeping quarters but was pleasantly surprised. It’s worth noting that this was a surprise unannounced visit early on a Saturday morning. The sleeping quarters were clean and as mentioned odor free. The units were sparse with a raised bed up off the concrete provided. I asked and was informed that each dog could bring its own bedding and comfort toy with them. At owners risk of course. General impression was positive.

Picked up my two dogs after 7 days at Doggies and Moggies. One of them has ears that are really painted on and Bill is fantastic with him. This is the third time they have been at D&M and every time - great care. Last year when they were staying and we couldn't pick them up because of the floods - Bill was great having them for the extra days. Thoroughly recommend them.

We were visiting from Auckland and didn't do a booking for pet care after an extremely bad experience at another pet day care.I called Doggies and Moggies and they were kind enough to accommodate for day care. As my dog has special eating arrangements, Bill asked for an additional $ as we were leaving him longer the next day. I did not mind at all as long our baby was looked after well and was happy n safe. Bill and Sue are great at looking after my 2 doggies, Mackey and Cookie the dogs cant wait to go there, and play with some other little friends that would be holidaying there too.They have done work on the floor of the runs for the dogs recently which has turned out great.I would recommend them for your pets as they are well cared for which puts us parents" minds at rest.Review from Debbie"

Our gentle dog was attacked by another and left tied up, filthy in the pouring rain. The only reason he received any treatment was we had booked him in for grooming on the 4th day of his visit and the groomer insisted our dog be taken to the vet. He had multiple bite wounds including one that was abscessed and infected. He was sensitive to touch at his wounds, his temperature was 39 degrees and he was described as being 'depressed'. When we collected our dog the kennel operators tried to say that he must have arrived with the bites, which is impossible. If the groomer hadn't been booked and intervened, we are unsure if our dog would have survived this trip. I would not recommend this kennel to anybody and have since come to understand that many in the area feel the same way. Appalling and whilst we weren't charged the vet fees, were charged for his stay.UPDATE March 15 in response to the operator's continued assertion our dog arrived with the bite. We live 800 acres from the nearest dog and pat and hug our dog daily: we would know immediately if he had been bitten in our care, which I restate was impossible. Our second consultation with the VET asserted it happened in your care by a Fox Terrier. Also that you had not read the online form, the paperwork we completed or our request on dropping him off that he not be placed with aggressive dogs.
