Accommodation was comfortable and clean but out buildings need a tidy up. Owners Maggie and Bruce work hard in the establishment and also took us on a guided tour to the Arch through the rainforest and to the start of the Heaphy Track. The meal was excellent.

There were cob webs around the ceiling and corner of the walls, the lights were quite dark.I forgot to ask for invoice on-site, had sent messages twice and called three times, left email address multiple times, unfortunately, nothing has been received. Very very disappointed.

My experience at The Last Resort hotel in Karamea was mixed. I had stayed there before and was very satisfied with the accommodation, food, cafe, and service. However, when I returned this year, I was disappointed to find that the service and food quality had declined significantly. The owners and the place itself seemed tired, and there didn't seem to be enough staff to handle the workload. My familiy's evening meal in the restaurant was the worst experience we have ever had in a restaurant. Three out of five people at our dinner table did not have their simple food requests met, and 4 out of 5 people found the quality of the meals to be poor. To make matters worse, the owners shared their complaints about other guests with us, which felt unprofessional and inappropriate. The resort's cleanliness was also lacking. The windows were dirty, and there were cobwebs everywhere. The camp kitchen was in dire need of an upgrade.Overall, my experience at The Last Resort was not as enjoyable as my previous stay. While the accommodation was still comfortable, the poor service and food quality, combined with the lack of attention to cleanliness and maintenance, made it a disappointing experience. I hope the owners take steps to improve the resort's overall quality, as it has the potential to be a great place to stay in Karamea.

Great meal for a small town, chef definitely cares and even had a quick chat himself. Venison burger was amazing. Staff super friendly, only wish we were staying to take advantage of their rooms too.

I have visited this place since it first opened and always loved it.Change of owner now and I hope they get kinks out soon. Menu Un inspiring. Cleaning under par. No atmosphere. Called in one morning to grab 2 takeaway coffee s and after 15 mins was handed 2 cups no lids of bad coffee that cost more than most and I was the only customer! Long way to go to be better than its competition.

I marked The Last Resort down, because of my expectations. If you read this review and you stay in one of their ensuite rooms you will know what to expect and won't be disappointed. On the positive side of this experience, Helpful and friendly staff, great bar and eating area, good tucker, good Wifi and the room was roomy. It had 2 singles and a double bed in it and an ensuite. Nice wooden paneling and wooden beams on the ceiling. Ideally located for exploring the area. On the downside I was expecting an ensuite room to be like a motel room which is normally an ensuited room. There was no TV, Microwave, chairs to sit on, table to eat off and no power outlet in the ensuite. I think the thought behind this was that you would be encouraged to watch TV and sit in the bar area thus spending more.

After a long travel and crazy kids tonight. By farther bestservice I have ever had at a family meal. Way way above and beyond. No wonder it's busy. Warm and in a beautiful location. 5 stars isn't doing justice.

Great beds, normally motel bed are hard and we wake up with sore backs. But not here. Awesome dinner, I had the roast which came with a dessert. Recommend this place and we will be back.
