The Oaks Care Centre and Village

Not a place I would recommend. Debbie, Rachel and Marlene were very helpful but the owners need to improve training of staff.

My mother-in-law has been there a year now. The staff contradict each other. The food is so bad that we have to keep supplimenting her and she is still losing weight. The other residents constantly complain about it, but nothing changes. The level of healthcare is being eroded, so the care level that was stipulated in the contract that I signed has now changed. I.e. no more GP service. When she had a serious accident it took them hours to notify us. When she eventually returned to The Oaks from hospital she didn't get the physio care she needed and deteriorated so much that she became immobile and had to spend another 3 weeks in hospital. Multiple requests for pain relief were not passed on to the nurse, so she was left in severe pain for several hours. And yet the price keeps going up to feed the shareholders. If we could afford to move her we would.

I have been going to the Oaks for respite care and what a lovely bunch of people,the pc workers are so lovely and the layout of the place is well thoughtout with you in mind,I cant say enough about the folks who live there they are a special bunch as is the caring staff..Michael the manager is considerate to all ones needs ,always a nice kind word to say never flustered so he gets my vote,and last but not least the stay are A1,Ma.

My Mum has been in The Oaks around 3 months, what a fantastic place - the staff are genuinely friendly and caring and keep me updated on any changes with Mum on a regular basis. She receives full hospital level care and she loves the staff there and even though she isn't in the best shape, they manage to keep her smiling. It's a relief for her family knowing how looked after she is 24/7.

Think before selection of this place…

Well.... What a lovely group of people... My great grandma is send to hospital and my granny goes down there so see what's happened.... Three hours later she's still down there not knowing what's happened... The oaks is not picking up their phone, we are so worried.How would you feel it you sent your family down to the oaks, and something terrible happened to them they wouldn't simply call the family to let them know what happened, if they were or were not sending them to hospital.I'm disgusted by the oaks management of the situation, and not letting the family know what was happening. They should have been more on top of the situation.
