Yoga Academy

When I moved to NZ, I was looking for a place to practice yoga with highly qualified teachers, well-established, and which offers yoga, as it is, in essence. The variety of classes scheduled and the possibility of combining Asthanga with Hatha (with a strong influence from the Iyengar method) make objectively recommend Yoga Academy as your main yoga center. Strategically located in CBD allow you even to pop up there during your lunchtime. It also hosts a solid yoga trainer program and you will have the opportunity to share your practice not just with a friendly, kind and adorable community of yogis but also with future yoga teachers in training.

I spent 6 months studying with the academy and I cant speak highly enough of my experience. The academy is an incredible studio and all the teachers and students make you immediately feel at home. If your new to yoga or have a regular practice - check out the academy. If you’re thinking about the YTT, I 100% recommend!

The Yoga Academy is a pretty unique place. Peter and Jude have spent their lifetime dedicated to the practise of yoga and the opportunity to learn and train with such knowledge is very special. The instructors at the Yoga Academy are all dedicated and caring. It genuinely is a small sanctuary in Auckland.

I would 100% recommend the yoga academy for anyone looking to learn yoga. It's a very welcoming space with lovely down to earth teachers who are experienced at working with people with different levels of flexibility and strength. If you're a new beginner, they're there to take you through modified versions of the poses if needed, and if you're more advanced they can guide you to safely go further.I've been going for a few years and especially love their ashtanga classes as a way to move, stretch and de-stress after a day at the office.I've always loved the fact they have such an extensive timetable with classes on morning, lunch and evening – often with two styles offered at the same time so you can really choose what works for you. The only tricky bit is having to choose between teachers as they're all so good!

The Yoga Academy is by far the best yoga experience I have had over the 40 years I have been attending a variety of yoga classes.After covid going back to yoga at the Yoga Academy was quiet transformative I felt an aliveness of body and spirit I hadn't experienced for a while..I put this down to the depth of knowledge, experience and passion of the teaching staff there .

The Yoga Academy is my go-to happy place. After learning different yoga styles with different teachers, I came across Ashtanga through the Yoga Academy 4 years ago, and was in love with it the first class. The teachers are deeply experienced and devoted, the community of practitioners is warm and caring. I’d recommend it to anyone who would like to develop and deepen their practice in a beautiful and safe space.

The Yoga Academy in Federal Street has been at the centre of my life for nearly 20 years. Jude and Peter offer students outstanding tuition drawn from their deep knowledge and commitment to the practise and study of yoga over their lifetimes. The Yoga Academy retains a commitment to the lineage of ashtanga and hatha yoga teachings, but at the same time keeps these alive and relevant for students living in today's world. Jude's teacher training programme is second to none in New Zealand, producing some of the best yoga teachers around. I can not recommend the yoga academy more highly.

I have known the Academy for 20 years and the teaching, practice and wairua has always been a beacon of clarity, compassion and calm in my world. Jude and Peter work in close rapport to ensure everyone who comes to the Academy is sure to gain practice and perceptions that will enrich and nurture their growth and wholeness. Yoga has become so many things for so many people, and the beauty and power of the Academy is that everyone is welcomed and supported to journey into this ancient process in a way that will bring them to their centre. As we come from the pandemic into the world again, this is a place that can help us all build a bridge between our inner life and the communities around us.

One of the best yoga studio in Auckland so far! I have tried soooo many yoga studio in Auckland since I moved here last year and this is by far the best. So pure, classic, and aligned with my energy. Absolutely worth the try if you’re still looking or want something more traditional and classic one without the other unnecessary stuff. Just pure yoga practice, breathing, and amazing people.The teachers are also the best ones. I found it sometimes frustrating when I met yoga teacher that is “fake” and no connection or whatsoever to the yoga practice itself. Not here.They’re all very kind, super friendly, and absolutely knowledgeable about yoga. Peter and Jude are the people you want to talk if you want to know or interested in finding out about yoga.Oh, don’t worry about the parking as the yoga studio is really close to Civic Car Park!Go on and check this place out :)Namaste

I love the Yoga Academy! It's not just the great sessions but also the beautiful and inspirational community and atmosphere that Jude and Peter put so much work into creating. Getting adjustments and tips throughout the classes is invaluable and the energy from the teachers is so positive. Highly recommended!
