5 star because we love this place. Absolutely beautiful camped right on the beach front overlooking a magnificent (clean) beach, surf pounding in around the vast coastline. So very casual with great kitchen & bathroom, laundry facilities. Lots of dinky Kiwi batches give this camp at real character that is so very slecial to New Zealand. Really friendly manager...nothing is a problem. Highly recommend a visit here as we will certainly return.

Great little gem of a motor camp .right on the beach which is great for exploring, fishing ,our just watching the relaxing waves roll on .not a big camp by any means but we'll equipped with cups saucers plates knives and TV fridge deep freeze machine everything is clean and the manager very helpful and relaxing place to unwind we have come back three or four times our selfs .

My husband and I camped in our NSC campervan at Akitio Beach Camping Ground. We arrived on a Thursday and no one was at the store, so the sign said to see Angela at Batch 29. She wasn't home so we decided to just pay in the morning. The view is lovely. The grass area where we parked to camp had access right to the beach. It wasn't busy when we were there and was a good find for us!

It was full here for new year ..but was able to camp further down the road...right near the beach and toilets ...awesome, beautiful place....A+A+

If you love Geology this is a great place the south end is full of amazing rocks and the north end great for the kayak, & Swimming. But my favorite is the middle by the camp especially at low tide, shallow and great if you have a snorkel. Lovely beach for walks and yes totally agree the fish and chips are the best ever....The lovely couple who run the camp are great, kiwiana is the camp flavour. So you feel right at home. Our little dog Jip had a great time too.... THANKS GUYS

A grand spot.Well kept campground.The owners are really nice people.I arrived in a huge windstorm and they put me in a very sheltered spot for my tent.Unfortunately the wind got much stronger, and the manager came to see me at 10:30 pm and said I should stay in a cabin , at no extra charge, which I did.I was so relieved.Much thanks to you sir.On a better day it would've been a nice experience.Other than that it's a lovely place
