Staff were so friendly and helpful, we didn't have a booking, but got a great table for 4 outside in the sun. The 2 men had the steak and my friend had the bangers and mash, they all raved about great they were. I had the smashed avocado, not quite as good unfortunately, eggshells and too much garlic. Would definitely go back again

They wouldnt let us in with our 2 week old baby, because of the pram he was in.Due to health and safety".The place was very quiet and we could have sat quietly in the corner away from everyoneLiterally the only place in greater wellington that has never let me into their establishment with a pram.Shame as have eaten there before and was good food. Out of principal I won't be eating there again."

Great location, average food and when we asked for additional butter to go with their delicious bread it wasn't an option (making the 1st course somewhat disappointing experience wise) The pork crackling was exactly that and the apple sauce spicy. The monkfish was good, the beef pie a hit, the salmon was a bit dry when combined with the mash, but the beef roast was well done which isn't great.

Went to have dinner this evening wow was it a disappointment. We both had the chutney-chicken. It tasted ok, a little bland. The chicken would have barely been enough to make a burger. It was served with about 3 tablespoons of green stuff, barely covering the bottom of the bowl it was served in. Taking roughly 3 mins to consume, had it not cost $28 I would have taken it for a starter. Thankfully one of the kids didn't finish their chips so I didn't completely starve. For just $7.50 you too can order a full glass of ice with a dash of coke. Dishes were only taken away as a last resort or not at all. Our empty bowls were left in front of us until desert was ready to be served. Finished drink glasses were never taken away our entire time. The 6 of us were outnumbered significantly by the 15 empty glasses I counted at the end. After an approx $50 chips & ice-water feast" I skipped desert and headed over to Mickey D's on the way home instead. Won't be going back to the Crooked Elm again."

Staff were rude about seating situation and the owner endorses the rude attitude there staff put out. I would never come back here again. I suggest going to the two other restaurant where the staff are far more accommodating and friendly.

A bit disappointed, after walking to the pub for an early meal (4.15pm) we were told due to health and safety we weren't able to bring our pram in which had our sleeping 2 week old in it. I could understand if the pub was busy but it was pretty much empty and we would have been gone before usual dinner service started. Turned away three paying customers.

It's ok, but their selection of available drinks was a bit too limited for my liking. Seemed a nice enough place, but I didn't stay long.
