The Green Parrot Bar & Grill
This place is beautiful,From the aesthetic to the food it was quite a shock to find a place so good in such a small town.Everything was cooked to an incredible refinement and chock full of flavour; it seemed like there were only two staff running everything however we never felt food was slow or that we were missing anything. We stayed till closing and had a little play with the kids colouring supplies, the only downside is not being able to become a regular here

We didn’t book, so was lucky to get the little nook in the corner around 5pm. Then they did get busy, but the main manager was efficient, she did kinda fly off mid service to our table, overall it was pretty good and we enjoyed the very very fast meal!

This is the Third time we have been for dinner and every time it's been amazing.Food is always amazing and a great price. My chicken breast was amazingThe staff are friendly and welcoming.A great place for the family and even just drinks with friends out in the garden. They welxome any suggestions you might have for the place. We suggested a dessert plate with a bit of all of them.We will make this our new family spot.Thank you ❤️

We into Methven on a Tuesday night and my wife and I were looking for a good place to eat and interestingly most of the restaurants are closed on Tuesday. This turned out to be a great thing for us because we found The Green Parrot Bar & Grill. It was actually a cold and rainy day and we had been walking around town looking for a place to eat when we saw it and walked in. Wow, we step into a toasty atmosphere warmed by a raging wood burning stove and the friendly greeting of the owner and our server.The appearance of the interior isn’t what we would have expected in a small town and was almost what you might find in a mountain retreat with high ceilings and wood decor and features.The menus surprised us too because it was almost what you’d find in a upscale restaurant in a big city, but not with the high prices. We had the hot pepper shrimp in a butter sauce as an appetizer served in a sizzling cast iron pan. A huge pile of roasted vegetables with a sweet sauce lightly sprinkled over the top. The orange roughy was melt in your mouth pan fried instead of baked, as suggested. The chicken burger was not your usual slab of plain grill chicken, but a batter fried chicken breast with a wonderful savory mayonnaise sauce on a glazed type bun.Not only was the food and atmosphere excellent, but our service we received from Lee was great. As I told the owner, the only negative thing about us coming here is that her restaurant is not in the town where we live or we would be there all the time.

Super friendly staff, quick service, and absolutely delicious food with reasonable pricing! One small thing I would recommend is a counter bell - especially if you are busy or short staffed, so that the customers could grab your attention if they are in need of something :)

Had a lovely meal last night that consisted of, garlic bread, succulent pork belly, and an ice cream sundae. The staff were wonderful, who gave great service which complimented the awesome experience. If you want to end a day of exploring this wonderful area of New Zealand, then this is the evening destination for you.

We came by for dinner and were fortunate enough to get a table without a booking. We ended up in the dining room at the back of the restaurant.The menu wasn't too big but it did have quite a nice range of items. They also had specials for each night.I tried the Brahma Malzbier and enjoyed it because it was surprisingly quite sweet. Started with the calamari and the fried chicken. The calamari was perfect. It was cooked perfectly so it was quite tender and it had a nice crispness to it. The fried chicken was also quite tender and juicy. I had the roasted ribeye and that was nice. Nice slab of beef with nicely cooked vegetables. I did find it on the dry side without the gravy. Had the brownie for dessert and that was nice. It wasn't overly gooey but was rich and chocolatey.It was quite a nice option for dinner and possibly drinks as they had a bar out front. The entrees were amazing but the mains didn't reach that bar. It was still a nice place for a meal.

Came here after looking around town at the options. The dinner was really great, every meal was a winner and the dessert was delicious. Good craft beer on tap too! Go here if you want a calm and decent dinner at good price.

Really friendly staff and owners. We didn't book but they accommodated us in the dining area out back (which actually suited us perfectly as its nice and quiet, away from the bar patrons out front)The food was really good too. For starters we had the cheese scone balls and fried chicken, both were great but the chicken was so so flavourful moist and delicious! For main course I had the steak special and the steak was cooked to rare spot on, my partner had the chicken burger and that was really really good. And the brownie for dessert topped it all off.Overall great food and really friendly staff and owners. Thanks for a nice night out :)
