Salty's Diner
We are absolute regulars at Salty’s and understand that we can never book, irregardless of our group size.We took the family for dinner last Friday, which was St Patrick’s day, there were empty tables but we were told that we’d have to sit outside to eat (high chance of rain!) because these tables had been reserved. When I questioned reservations, I was told again, no it’s only reserved for the owners family and the other was for a large group.Never, ever have we been allowed to book no matter the group size because it’s their policy, but because it was Paddy’s day and their family fancied a table, regulars had to sit outside and chance their arm against the rain. What a good way to p!$$ off your absolute regular patrons!

We were a group of 26, and we were all able to be seated close to eachother. The food was delicious, I got the fried chicken burger w/bacon and it was the nicest burger I've had in a long time and I was full after that.Kids had a quarter pack, tacos and smashburger and they all liked their food.Husband also had a fried chicken burger w/bacon and said he could of done with extra chicken but other than that it was yum.No complaints from any of our other guests.Waitresses were awesome, even when my son spilled his drink all over himself and the floor, very accommodating, there was barely any wait on the food maybe 15-20min then all our food started rolling out.Overall awesome food, awesome staff and awesome atmosphere. We will be backFrom Tauranga

Salty's Diner
Really nice food and good portions to share with friends and family. Easy going spacious place with live music in the evenings. Service was spot on and the good arrived quickly (and it was busy as). Many people outside enjoying the weather and a beer, we loved playing the pinball machines. Give this place a go, but book for popular nights and times. We walked in no problem round 6pm, but I was informed that any later on a Friday we wouldn't have had a table. Great asset for Paraparaumu Beach.

Cool spot with friendly staff. Only a 4 star as the burger wasn't that amazing (wayyy to much sauce) and the beer choices were limited. Will definitely be back though to explore the menu more.

Smash burgers, amongst other things, were really flavorsome and filling. Absolutely will be back.

Just brilliant! Everything! The pinball machines, the Airstream, and the live music when we were there. Oh, and the burgers! Holy mother of all that is good on this planet! These burgers are worth a try. Go and try it. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy it.

Second review - change from 4 stars to 5 stars. First review below.Jugs of beer and great burgers. What a win!Great to see the owners listening and upping their 3 wings to 4 wings. This has been our new favourite place since opening. Food and service have been consistently good. Tried all their cocktails recently. They're beautifully made and some of the best I've had in a long time.First review.I really like this place. Love Big jugs of beer at a reasonable price and tasty food. It has a really fresh And funky atmosphere.A few comments for the owners. I thought the hot Wings were overpriced At $18 for 3, even though they're big wings. Plus, it's a sharing plate so if two people order it to share, you're setting the scene for a fight over who gets the third wing! The battered pickles had too much oil in the batter. Would be great to fix that. The chicken roll should be more evenly constructed. The bites in the middle were mostly slaw and roll.I'd personally love a rye option for the reuben with the bread not as thick. We will be back!

Turned up and was super busy evening , was happy to sit outside although no heaters with no wind its kind of sheltered but be wrapped up for winter.Having been before knew what we wanted and ordered The Cubano and some jalepeno poppers for 2 to share , which was enough as the Cubano is pretty filled. Just right for a quick bit and a pint.

Came across this funky bar/diner while looking for a COVID friendly/ outdoor seated place for a drink and bite to eat.Clearly imaginatively constructed around an old “Airstream” caravan (now indoors) this place has a relaxed 60s style beach bar ambiance with super-attentive staff, a range of (home produced?) beers and large-portion excellently constructed bar food.We had a BB smash burger and the fish fillet burger. The BB stands for beef brisket, generously filling the bun with cheese, pickle and delicious BBQ and mustard sauces. For me this was one of the tastiest burgers I’ve had for years. The beef was tender with a “burnt ends” texture and taste. The pickles were, I imagine, home made - well soused slices of gherkin with fresh dill. The bun was nothing to write home about, but it was large enough to house its ample filling! My partner had the fish fillet and was suitably impressed by this large portioned burger that bore no relationship to the other “filet o fish” that you get in that burger chain that shall not be named in the same breath as Saltys. The beer I chose was an IPA “ Full Fervour”, not as full or as hoppy as I would normally like, but refreshing on a hot summer day.A real PLUS for this place was the quality of the sound system, and the choices of non-mainstream music. They have live music here too!Definitely a great find and future destination when next travelling up the coast!
