Waipu Gorge Scenic Reserve

Not very famous but worth going, just 10 minutes walk from car park. There is a gravel road for about 4 - 5 kilometers, but you won't regret.

Gorgeous place. Absolutely worth a visit! It is only a 2 min walk from the road so easy to access as well.

When driving to this place, be aware that it's gravel road so don't speed there as you'll probably end up off the road as there is a lot of turns.As you arrive there, there isn't any carparks so you'll just have to park on the side of the road but don't leave anything valuables.The first part of the track to the falls is down stairs, in which it is pretty steep but it's well maintained. But it's pretty short so don't stress.At the base, the track is narrow so share the pathway.There is a small thin bridge to cross that has no railing, so assist people that are not capable of crossing, eg children or older people.Then it's a short walk to the base of the falls. It's not that bad. A few pockets of pools to swim in but it's cold and some areas are deep. But check the depth of your considering to jump in, as there's no reception in the area if things go wrong.Bad thing: Rubbish...New Zealand is suppose to be green yet fools aren't taking their rubbish with them. There's no bins, so do the right thing!!Duration: 10 minutes to falls

Beautiful, tranquil and peaceful even with the roar of the waterfall.

Nice way to spend an hour or so. Short easy walk leads you to a beautiful waterfall and great way to cool off on the hot summer days.
