Waikato River Trails
Beautiful 29km mountain ride with some grade 3 and some easy bits. (Harder nearer to the Whakamaru dam end.)Stunning river views and rode through bush, pine forests, past farm lands, along board walks and up to Whakamaru Dam. Rode beyond the Dam to have lunch at the store, then rode back to Atiamuri Dam. Was tired and so fell off on the way home - you can get a shuttle if 29kms is enough! Worth the effort !

A wonderful track right next to the Waikato river; bringing a sense of connection to the land and the rich history of the river. Also a fabulous way to get creative and build stone structures along the way.
