True Grit Hair

Absolutely love going to this salon! I never have had to wait more than 5 minutes for my booking. I’ve had a few hairdressers as I’ve been going here for a few years now and none of them have disappointed. They were all professional, clean, and friendly.The head massage always makes me day too :)

I had been to this salon once when they were in their old premises but had a bad experience most recently at their new location. Years ago I had good experience so it is a potential anomaly based on other reviews. Hairdresser was very rough and not good at keeping informed of what she was doing (eg how long she planned on keeping the colour in for) and added things into the treatment that cost extra and only informed me when it was time to pay. Colour outcome was not as requested, it seemed rushed and she barely looked at the photos of the style I was trying to achieve. She was a new/ trainee hairdresser but had a couple of years experience from what I could tell. Either way no excuse for poor service.

I can't say enough about True Grit and Naomi in particular. I was searching for someone to create a unique vibrant colour look for me, using red as the anchor colour. Naomi knocked it out of the park. She created a look that has depth and complexity.Every step of the way she made sure that I was comfortable and taken care of, whether it was checking to make sure the bleach on my scalp wasn't hurting me or bringing me a glass of wine while I sat reading an issue of Frankie waiting for the dye to penetrate.She also cut off six months of split ends and gave me a haircut that works with the natural fall of my hair. I have been to a lot of hairdressers who give haircuts that look great walking out of the salon, but are impossible to make look good without several years of hair school under your belt. It's been days now and my hair just falls right into place. When I wake up in the morning, it looks perfect!When I saw how much it would cost to do my hair I was a little concerned, but I took a deep breath and decided to go for it. No regrets. I feel like I got way more than I paid for!

What a disappointment after booking online then being called up 2.5 hours before the appointment to be told that I have to have an hour consult as new client and the person they allocated me can't do a cut in less than an hour. They didn't bother to ask about my short hair or what I needed doing or even offer an alternative appointment, I have never needed an hour for a haircut before. Must say being new to Christchurch this is a real disappointment it shouldn't be this difficult. Very poor customer service and a loss to you of a new client ☹️☹️

Libby was outstanding. I had grown my hair for 3+ yrs and she methodically styled it, never taking shortcuts, checking in with me all the while. So friendly and put me very much at ease. 10/10 service, and I LOVE my new do! Highly recommend.

I’ve struggled to find a good hairdresser to go to regularly in Christchurch. True Grit took lots of time to ask exactly what I wanted, and delivered on it perfectly. Thank you so much, I’m excited to come back in the future.

I hadn't had my hair cut at a hairdressers in 6 years, just trims at home, so was looking for a big change. Georgia washed my hair and was lovely. I had Sarah cut my hair (on her birthday no less) and I love it. She listened to everything I said and took it all into consideration. Sarah made me feel so comfortable and I really recommend True Grit and Sarah. I'm really happy with how it went and how they took my hair type into account as well as my inability to return soon.

Lovely place, very welcoming from reception to Naomi my hairdresser today. I have booked another appt for me and the rest of my family. Right at the top for best place to go in Christchurch. Thanks Paola

Everyone here was great! I really liked the back 'color room'; very cool to have a separate place to sit while your get your color done. I was very happy with how my hair came out and that they were able to fit me in on such short notice.
