AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. If you are craving Asian cuisine, visit the neighbouring Vietnamese restaurant instead. Some of the reviews here were raving about the place hence we decided to give it a try.Honestly, the food was okay. Not mind blowing but not bad as well. Portion is much smaller than normal. Price is on the higher end but is understandable due to location. There were small mosquitoes like INSECTS found IN THE FOOD.The SERVICE we received was the reason it deserves 1 star. The waitress was not friendly to us at all. However, she was treating the table full of chinese ppl who ordered lobsters and abalone very differently. Towards the end of our meal, they charged us 1 DOLLAR PER CONTAINER if we want to TAKEAWAY our food.

We saw a lot of tour groups here which should have set alarm bells ringing. Nevertheless, we had sweet and sour pork, spinach and beef with spring onions. All very standard fare that was edible and tasted somewhat like what it should. I didn’t wanted to risk ordering others given the reviews.Air conditioning was busted when we were there. It can get hot if the place is crowded with PRC tourists.

The previous reviews have confused me as I really enjoyed the mandarin. The restaurant’s location is beautiful, looking over the serene Wakatipu lake. We walked in and had a very nice meal, the food was cooked well and the owner was such a kind lady! The highlights for me was the scampi, the salt and pepper prawns, the garlic pork ribs and the steamed fish. It sadden me to hear that the business has gotten quite the hit by covid as it deserves all the praise.

Not a very pleasant experience, the appetizers were not appetising at all. Food came in at various time, meaning we were eating almost one at a time. The quality is also not up to restaurant standard. Taste like a home cook.

It was a great experience. As a Chinese, it was definitely the most authentic Chinese food I've ever had.Especially the sweet sour chicken fillet and Peking Style Roast Duck.....soooooo yummy..

Had the set menu here for 3. Food was traditional Australian Chinese, great quality produce used. Plenty of food for 3 and only 35 each which included dessert. Service ladies were lovely and very attentive. Would definitely return!

First floor dining room, large, probably 100 plus. Beautifully new and clean, menus large, well illustrated, laminated, spotless.Sweet and sour pork, seafood rice, salt prawns. Two glasses of wineSweet and Sour pork bland even onion and pineapple had no taste, sweet and sour sauce “floury”, no “sharpness”. Seafood rice minimal seafood tasteless. Salt prawns skins on (would have avoided but waiter didn’t understand question “skins on or off” … were lightly “velveted” (thin batter) with salt sprinkling but once skinned, “nothing”, just rather overcooked prawns with a pot scourer texture and no taste) … no sauce provided.Only one other couple there when we arrived (about 1245). Unfortunately we’d ordered when the other couple left … leaving three quarters of their meal uneaten. We did much the same. $107.00 for three of the smallest plates offered (medium) and two glasses of wine. Wine good.Avoid. Check Google rating before eating ANYWHERE you’re not familiar with. Don’t waste money. Respect your intestinal tract.

We had take out Dinner from Mandrain Seafood Restaurant. Order was made online without any issue. Food sizes are generous and tasted yummy too. We had fired rice with chicken and salty fish, seasonal veggies, crispy chicken, Hong Shao Tofu and chicken and cashew. Staff was very helpful and we are very happy with the quality of food. Recommend.
