Matawai Camp
Just needed a stopover at a nice quiet camp site with facilities and that allowed dogs on our RV trip around Hawkesbay.Toilets, showers, great kitchen and dining area.All very clean and tidy.Powered sites available and wifi.Shops nearby for groceries, food and coffee.Very good value.No fuss.Perfect.

We stayed at the camp on 27/2/20. It is a lovely quiet camp in a small village. The facilities are good and clean. I would recommend it as a great place to stay. We stayed with the intention of having dinner in the close by hotel, but to our disappointment we found that it had been closed for about 4 years and is now a private residence. All was not lost however, as there is a cafe called the Hardrive Cafe, directly across the road from the park entrance. We got a great feed of fish and chips for dinner and in the morning had a lovely cooked breakfast.

It's a lovely Place.A more than fair price for that what you get.Very Clean Toilets and Showers. The Kitchen has all you need. Even more positiv are the owners, they're very friendly and you get a very good coffee and breakfast in their office for a reasonable price.All in all a very nice experience.For all the WiFi Users, it's unlimited and fast and you have signal all over the Campground.Would stay here again.

Loved this little stopover. Great location, quiet, historical and quiet. We stayed in a cabin which was reasonably priced. Its close to Motu Falls. Lovely service and welcome. Definately recommend.

Loved our 2 night trailer camping here. Nice grassy area and some powered sites. Beautiful area and walks nearby. Camp owners have a little cafe with coffee etc and can rustle up tasty meals. Excellent wifi inclusive. Comfy hangout type kitchen.

Great hidden gem. Went there to stay with father on business trip clean tidy units, fridge , utensils , excellent beds , beautiful beach view 1 min walk , active security patrolling 24 hours . Looking forward to going back with wife soon. Bet it's busy over Xmas . Book now I suggest . All in all great bloody place.

Very clean, lovely place amidst beautiful nature. The friendly owners have taken care to provide all the necessary amenities including hot water showers, even filtered potable water and appliances in the kitchen. Also have Wi-Fi. I enjoyed my dinner with the background songs of the local birds. This place will recharge your batteries, so I highly recommend to everyone. It's such a beautiful place to be......Uma

Didn't camp there but the office shop does a great takeaway coffee. Added bonus is an electric car charging thingy right outside on the road. Public toilets across the road are clean also.
