We asked at the bottom of the gondola if the cafe was open and told it was. At great expense we went up to have a lovely late lunch only to find the kitchen closed and a bare handful of food in the cabinets. Very disappointing and we didn't enjoy the cake we got.

They have redone the Knoll Ridge cafe. There are three main areas, Pinnacles Restaurant with buffet meals in the area overlooking the Pinnacles. Pataka cafe with the hot and cold foods in the main area of the cafe, and the Four Peaks Ally at the bottom with cargo container stalls which sell a type of food each.We ended up going with Pataka as there wasn't much of a selection at the Four Peaks (Coffee, Bao, Curry or Sushi). They have similar options to before and I grabbed a lamb pie which was quite nice. A bit pricy ($7.50 for a pie) but nice food with a nice view overlooking the Pinnacles.

this place has the best wedges i have ever tasted but unfortunately its for the price of 13.50 and a ticket up the sky waka, but their food and warm seating areas were needed after a windy hike up to the pinnacles. i have never been more excited to be at a cafe than this one, despite the ridiculous prices.

Nice chilled area for a coffee / drink.Slightly over priced and quality is passable. There are some really beautiful views from there as there are huge windows everywhere.

The only restaurant at base of Mt Rupehu. Has outdoor seating area and very close to Happy Valley. Good place for a coffee or tea and quick bite or fast food.

Really cool experience. We took 2 scenic ski lifts to get there. The building itself looks amazing. The food is great, big portions. The staff and service wasn't good though, they got my order wrong and did not care to change it. They did not look happy, without a smile. Looked like they wanted to go but had to work. The views up here are beautiful though. Also the idea of having lunch in the highest café in New Zealand is pretty cool :^).

Staff was very helpful and patient. Food was ok, could’ve been better. Not the best Fish and chips or Chicken nuggets and chips I had. It was just OK. However it is understandable amount of people they are catering too. It’s was fully packed. People were waiting for tables. But overall a good experience

A delicious coffee and snack up at the Pinnacles today. The brownie was chocolatey and moist. The coffee was full bodied.I was really pleased to see that the entire takeaway cup was cardboard, including the lid. Nice to see the thought for the environment.Look forward to having lunch up there tomorrow.
