Closing at noon is too early for visitors coming from outside of Auckland. There should be more flexibility offered to enable visits to the consulate without having to stay in Auckland overnight.

If there were a monument to the worst way of doing anything and overcomplicating everything, the german consulate takes it all.You are required to get there by appointment, but you have to call AFTER the time the Honorary Consuls sees people to make it.Other embassies do police checks digitally and here you have to send it by post (which makes this process enormously longer), the attention to the public is only 2 hours (10 am to 12pm), the webpage is poorly designed, doesn't really explain anything very accurately and is the most counterintuitive thing ever.What a waste of time.

Had to apply for a new German passport and got replies to my Emails (and phone calls) very quickly and always lots of helpful information. Marianne, who works there, called me back when she found out that I could have my appointment earlier than my booked appointment that would have been 6 weeks after and rescheduled it which saved my flexibility regarding a trip home.I got a call before my appointment to remind me what docjments I had to bring.The appointment itself didn't take long and everything was very easy.
