Arataki Visitor Centre

Great stop at the Gateway to the Waitakari Ranges. Beautiful scenery, Information centre with helpful and knowledgeable staff, great short walks, including a botanical walk with name-signs of the native vegetation.

Popped in here after 1 pm. Car park was full but inside the centre was very quiet. Observatory deck outside has a picturesque view. Small but clean public bathroom. interesting and informative stuffs are on display. Cozy resting area with a fantastic view from inside as well. Pretty hand made goods at the souvenir shop ( 25% off sale now). A must go with kids or seniors in Auckland.

Loved our experience here so much. We also did an educational experience and the educators were passionate, friendly and knowledgeable. We loved how diverse the activities were for our tamariki. Our tamariki were so engaged and had a really great time!

Little bit of a windy road as you got closer, but good signage and parking. Closed at 5pm but there are toilets on the right if still there afterwards.Nice lookouts. Friendly staff. We only walked part way of the track. There is a 5min track to another lookout.

Beautiful nature and the panoramic coastal view from the Arataki Visitor Centre just 30 minutes drive from Auckland City!This Center is a great place to start exploring the mesmerizing view of New Zealand. Visitors can obtain information about the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park from the visitor center and learn about the cultural and ecological landscapes.There is also a lovely souvenir shop where quality local products are sold. Products such as Manuka honey and more products made by honey including honey toothpaste can be found here!Visitors can discover simple hiking tracks nearby with proper map. It was a very relaxing experience and truly recommended!

The views here are amazing. We stopped here while driving to Piha Beach for the Mercer Loop hike. Giant photo frame #1/10

Well worth the time to go on a tour or to this visitor center.

A must-visit place. Lots of lovely views from all sides. Walkways where you get to experience nature in many ways. Informational boards along the way.Multiple activities inside. Separate children's corner with loads of activities. Variety of souvenirs available too.Coffee and yummy ice cream available. Plenty of comfortable places to sit, play and enjoy various activities. Board games available too. Toilets on first floor. Visitor center on second floor.Recommended for kids and families alike. Perfect place for taking pictures. They host some holiday programs and activities too.About 20 minutes' drive from West Auckland. The road is super winding and tricky but worth it.
