Conroy Removals

No star but had to give it a star to post. Container was too small, not enough protector cloths or wrapping. Only 2 items from a large house lot that wasn't damaged. No care taken when loading.Furniture rubbing on sides of container and dirty marks left on dining chairs from their fingers. They arrived nice and early but it went downhill after that. Would never use them again or recommend them. Even though they knew about our furniture being damaged no one phoned to discuss, just sent a claim form. Impossible to make a claim on numerous scratches and dents and broken furniture, only put in a claim to repair an expensive dining room table. They gave the money to us for repairs less $250.00 excess!!

If you would like any of your items delivered on time and to have any sort of professionalism from a service provider, I'd look elsewhere

Used them recently for an intercity move from Napier to Hamilton, and it was a very unpleasant experience as a whole. When initially requesting a quote, I specified a delivery date 2 days later than the pick up date which I was told should be fine, only to find at the other end that it stated on the quotation there is a transit time of 5 to 10 working days - lesson learnt, pay very close attention to what is written on the quotation regardless of what you are told! That aside, on the day of the removal of my goods they sent just one guy to do all the packing and loading and with a Toyota Hiace to boot - how on earth they thought a queen size bed along with furniture and boxes would fit in that is beyond me! When my belongings were finally delivered - a week later than I had requested might I add, they also sent just one person to unload the truck with everything to go into an upstairs unit. I was very unimpressed with having to help to shift my stuff - I did not pay for a service to then have to do some of the work! Overall communication was pretty poor, most of the time I had to chase what was going on. Would not recommend using their services, especially not on a small load intercity! Will not be using their services again in future.

Really bad experience with them. Many of our framed art arrived with the glass broken and our washing machine has a big indent (maybe from poor handling). The manager who was taking care of our moving was very rude to me on the phone, I felt like he was making fun of my english by saying I don't understand how you speak

Poor experience from start to finish.Wrong shipping time frames provided. Missing, broken and dropped items on arrival.Only one staff member was unloading our items and struggling to do it alone so we ended up having the majority left in the garage after he dropped an antique chest.The service we paid for was not provided. No care for a quality service, bad attitudes and poor communication.Wet boxes, the truck ripped a branch off the tree backing down the driveway, the list goes on.Now to send in claims for broken items..Avoid using this company if you want a pleasant experience.

In my view Conroy’s specialize in poor communication and delivering disappointment.From our initial discussion with Conroy’s movers were promised a 4-6 week turnaround from A - B. We bought our one way tickets and provided them with several months’ notice. Our house was packed on the 28th of October, and didn't leave New Zealand as first planned in early November but left the second of December. At first, we received good communication from the NZ office and the removals team was outstanding. After that, we had to chase the whereabouts of our house every step of the way - communication was atrocious and inconsistent. I was under the impression that we had one point of contact throughout yet, in reality, we had Nathan, Suzan, Jo, Daniel, Elizabeth, Sophie and the random local contractors that was news to us.Due to the delay at one point we were told that we needed to fork out for extra insurance, this was not the case but sent me off digging through paperwork again for no good reason. At last we finally received the contents of our house at our new address on the 4th of January a total of (9 weeks 5 days) By pure miracle might I add - this was pure luck, I was told by the local contractor (who were great) that we were originally booked for February, however, there was a Covid cancellation and we simply called up at the right moment after receiving a random SMS. (Not from Conroy’s – no surprise.) It was literally like Christmas, however now we have doubles of most of our things and a garage full of stuff we don’t need.To make matters worse we had a baby due on the 2nd of January and add to the excess cortisol. Have had an overall very good experience with them. Shipment was sent and received without delays, communication was great. The only thing is that i wish they had is the brochures for the first time movers explaining more about border rules (such as biosecurity, customs) we had to re-pack some items, as we didnt know the rules

Absolutely shocking service! I purchased an antique day bed off trade me and the seller took pictures of the item being loaded into the van by the Conroy Removal guys and the item was in perfect condition. Fast forward two weeks (yes this is how long it took them to deliver it) and they have snapped both the ends off the day bed. When they delivered it and were questioned about it, they immediately blamed the seller and said they collected it like that, despite being told I had photographic proof to say otherwise. So when I refused to sign the docket to say it had been delivered in one piece they said they didn't care, I couldn't prove it was them anyway and just walked away! If I thought this was bad, I rang their head office and was put through to a Manager who put me through to voicemail and no one has ever called me back, and it's been a month. I now have to take my day bed to a cabinet maker to replace the snapped dowels and glue both ends back on for a price tag of $450. Thanks very much Conroys!

Edited:After an initial missup with one of the boxes we shipped from NZ to Australia, finally our belongings are all reunited. Everything arrived in perfect conditions, it just took a little longer that expected for the last box and we had to send several emails in order to manage to get our box with us but we are happy with the service at the endDespite initial communications were quick, helpful and smooth, when belongings were uplifted from our storage unit, the inventory done by the drivers didn't match the one we presented. When questioned with pictures that proved all the boxes were in the storage unit and the drivers took them all (as pics provided by the storage facility), we have been told 2 boxes were down packed (?). Shipment was quick, storage in Australia was handled smoothly and delivered fast. But surprise (not surprising) the box that wasn't mentioned in the inventory was not there and neither its content. Nothing extremely valuable but couldn't make an insurance claim for it since it 'never left NZ'. It's such a shame because if whoever is responsible for the missing box didn't have the brilliant idea of 'down packing' it (aka stealing?!) my review would have been completely the opposite and I would recommend the service to others. I mean, go ahead but don't expect to receive everything you send. That at the end of the day, after $2k spent with professionals is the bare minimum of what you would expect.

I had a great experience with Conroy Removals.They moved our home furniture from Auckland to Wanaka. Move took 2 weeks. They were flexible when I had to move up the date. They called the day before to arrange the uplift time and called again the day before to organise the drop off.The crew from Auckland who did the pick up were really lovely and helpful.The crew from Cromwell doing drop off were just as lovely and moved things to each room they needed to go to.Price was competitive and I would use them again.
