we stumbled upon this restaurant and tried to give it a go. my husband ordered chicken curry and I got delicious wonton and noodles dish. my dish was oily and the noodles soggy. I'm ok with the fact that the dish was oily but what I cannot accept is that there was 1 insect in my dish, according to the owner it was not an insect but red spice. the chicken wasn't great either and a couple of pieces were not cooked properly. not felt safe to eat the rest of the meal and left it there. I do not recommend this place at all.

Beef noodle…use canned beef and frozen vegetables. Porks are okay. Won’t be there any more.

For that range of food, it is not too bad, do not complain as you pay what you get. Fried noodle was good, Tantan noodle was fine. There is no where else to get a meal with this affordable price.I believe they deserved better ratings

Review for LUCKY WONTON (not the wokshop) in Dec 2021.Ordered the braised beef noodles and mixed vegetable & pork fried dumplings.- braised beef was tender and tasty. Broth was rich. Could have done with some greens in the bowl.- instead of the fried dumplings, I think what we actually received was wontons in a broth. Difficult to ask the servers as they don't speak English (which adds to the authenticity of the restaurant but makes communication difficult). It was still tasty nonetheless, the wontons/dumplings had a juicy filling.

So pleased to chance upon Lucky Wonton. On a Sunday evening when everyone in downtown Auckland seems to be in bed by 8pm I was lucky to find Lucky Wonton open. With a warm welcome and an engaging menu I chose one of the specials, $10 Dan Dan Mian noodles. The noodles were hot and delicious, really hit the spot. Incredible value. Highly recommended.

The rating for this place is certainly not a true rating. The chef must think their customers can't tell the difference between want ons and dumplings as ordered the wantons from menu and got dumplings in there with dumpling flavour mixes inside. That would be OK but the soup is just plain msg mixes. Would never eat here again and I wouldn't even recommend to try despite any special offers. My colleague fried beef noodles dish was very disappointing too as I think they use canned corned beef sliced thinnest possible. Whoever rated this place so highly has intention to mislead.

I had a serious size meal for almost half the price of similar meal in other outfits in CBD. It was exactly what I wanted. Very friendly service made my day. Thank you!
