We loved it here, particularly parked right on the riverside....the mighty Mohaka River. Stayed overnight in our campervan & would have stayed longer but weather forcast was not that good for next day. Shade under huge trees if you prefer shade. Some small beach area's on the riverbank so access to river is pretty easy. Lupin bushes on river bank could do with controlling. 3 different (clean) toilet blocks spread out across park, take own loo paper. Perfect for kayaks & trout fishing, paddling, swimming. Take plenty of your own fresh water.

What a peaceful and beautiful campsite. We had a brilliant 3days stay. We were traveling from the Bay of Plenty and the road was good. Alright for the small cars. This lovely campsite is by a beautiful river. The water was clean and very cold. But we brought bottled water to drink and cook. For everything else, we got water from the river. There were no taps. There are few clean toilets. Very minimum facilities but that's all you want if you love to enjoy more of nature. We went in early November. Not crowded, only a few camper vans. We put up our small tent. The weather was lovely except for the small showers on one night which wasn't very bad. No mobile network at all we didn't worry about it though. So much space for children to play. We had a real camping experience. Highly recommend.

Sealed road all the way to the campsite. Stunning place to relax along the Mohaka River. We stayed one night and woke up to amazing birdsong in the morning. The sound of water at night is peaceful too. Would definitely recommend if you're wanting a place to stay between Napier and Taupo.

A beautiful spot by the river with plenty of campsites for vans or tents. Dogs allowed. No fires due to proximity to forest. 2 long drop toilets. Water needs to come from the river (boild before drinking). No rubbish to be left there (no bins). The camp has a section at one end that requires a small Ford not suitable for some larger vehicles. Good fishing, swimming, tubing etc!

Great start to the working week. Great spot to stop over and get that extra night out of the weekend away.

The views are stunning. Watch out for no sign posts from main highway. Plenty places to camp and swimming is fine but kids must have supervision as currents are strong. Some shade too.

Amazing campsite ...you get proper peaceful environment and river flowing by your side.As it's a free camping ground it has no dump station or water pump or powered site for your campervan. You can use the water from the river and boil it before use.2 toilets available but no water

Great spot. Wind can get up a bit. Take some activities along if you're there a few days with the kids. And definitely your own toilet paper.
