An absolute treasure trove of books but its packed to the rafters literally... so be prepared to squeeze through and have a rummage... staff are so friendly and very helpful and the books are pretty affordable...

Second hand books aren't an easy business these days - but Book Barn makes it look like it is. I came out of here $30 poorer but way more hench thanks to the absolute stacks of sci fi classics I had under each arm!Warning: it is absolute chaos inside this store. They have so many books. I don’t know if there are national health and safety guidelines around how many books you can have in one room but if yes, Book Barn is breaking them. And I love it.

Fantastic. Initially i wanted to not get anything cos ive run out of shelf space. Went there for two hours and found three things i never expected to find. Also the place is endless. Labyrinthine. I don't think i even saw a fifth of the place. Would recommend. Most books don't cost over three bucks. Best secondhand bookstore in Christchurch, or even New Zealand, hands down.The only one which compares is Hard to Find Books in Auckland, which is saying something.

OH MY GOODNESS, book lovers dream, make sure to either allow yourself a very strict time limit, or be prepared to stay for hours. A real old fashioned book store, treasures hidden every where...if you love books, I very highly recommend a visit to this store.
