Despite COVID and building challenges throughout the sector with supply delays, Craig and Daniel managed our build proactively and professionally. Having engaged with a range of building companies prior to visiting Stroud and being given the impression that our budget would only enable us to build a fairly standard spec house, when we met with Eddie and the Team from Stroud they had a different approach from the outset.Rather than asking us what our budget was straight away, he focused on what we needed and wanted. Mike and Eddie then visited the site and as a result of that visit and understanding our requirements and budget constraints Eddie suggested we go down the route of a bespoke build.We never thought we would be able to work with an architect and plan our house from the ground up. From design through to choosing the fixtures and fittings the team at Stroud have been there to support and guide us through this journey every step of the way.

Building during a global pandemic and supply chain turmoil is not for the faint hearted. It pays to have the right professionals in your corner. We chose carefully and have been very impressed with the professionalism, responsiveness and integrity of Craig, Daniel and the Stroud Homes team. What could have been a stressful experience has instead been enjoyable. Thanks team and look forward to building with you again.

Stroud South Auckland / East Tamaki handed over our house in October 2021. We claimed on our Masterbuilders guarantee with circa 100 defects and 19 months later nearly all the defects still haven’t been fixed despite a masterbuilders report in January 2022 confirming defects, a masterbuild commissioned independent building surveyors report in Nov 2022 and a masterbuild commissioned independent structural engineers report in Nov 2022. To name a few of the larger issues, our concrete slab level is out of tolerance, our upstairs floor is out of tolerance (one room by an approx inch over 1m whereas the tolerance is only <5mm over up to 10m). Internal walls aren’t vertical straight. The mortar under our first row of bricks is over twice the building tolerance. All of our roof flashings need to come off our house as the paint is coming off them in to our tank water so we can’t drink the water here as it’s contaminated with paint. We’ve had about 8-10 windows replaced due to defects. There would be a couple hundred nails that have popped through the gib and window and door frames and these plus the numerous paint defects mean house needs to be repainted internally except some ceilings. The builder had his own 70 page report and testing done on our concrete drive and path which said it needs to be replaced as he didn’t believe our report but he’s still refusing to saying he can’t afford to despite withholding money from his contractor. This is only some of the issues with our home. What makes it worse is Craig unwillingness to resolve the issues and the constant battle I have with him.
