Clearview Estate Winery & Restaurant

Blair at the cellar door was an absolute legend and made our trip to Clearview so memorable! We tasted all the wines at an outside table overlooking the vineyards, and we are now experts in wine thanks to Blair! Thank you for your passion and enthusiasm, my partner and I had such a fun day and we learnt so much. Hopefully the 3 bottles we bought will make it back to Australia (I’ve already finished the Riesling !!!).Also compliments to the chef, our eye fillet was cooked so perfectly and just what we needed. We will be recommending clearview to everyone, thanks again!

I visited Clearview with my husband for lunch and a wine tasting and it was pretty good, but it wasn’t quite worth the hype. Food was excellent but service was lacking. It started out well with our waitress being very attentive but towards the end we were left waiting over an hour for a cheese platter and more drinks. Lots of wait staff passed our table where we were waiting with empty glasses but no one stopped to ask if we needed anything else. In the end, we decided to pay and leave and we weren’t offered any apology when we explained to the waiter at the cashier. Unfortunately, it left a sour a taste on what probably would’ve been a great experience otherwise, and you expect the service to be top tier given the standard offered at neighbouring wineries.

The wines are a great price by the bottle and the setting is charming and relaxed and you could easily spend an afternoon here drinking and enjoying the food and surrounds. Nice customer service in the restaurant and a good menu on offer. Clearview is a local icon and definitely worth a visit.

We had a fabulous time here last week. A group of 5 of us had a delicious wine tasting, hosted by two of the friendly male waiters. They were both knowledgeable about the wines and happy to entertain our novice questions. Based on which ones we enjoyed more than the others they even let us taste two more that weren't on our tasting menu. Those two were the two we liked best and we all left with bottles of wine, impressed with the wonderful service we received. It was a slightly chilly day - but the blankets provided at the outside tables was a thoughtful touch.

Food was ok, great ideas with the flavours but average execution.Wines were lack lustre and nothing special.The setting and tables were under whelming. Much better wineries around the place.Service by the staff was great. The only thing that made it good.Won’t be back.

This was one of our last stops on our bike wine tour. We were absolutely starving and arrived to it being fully booked. One of the wait staff managed to arrange a platter for us to do along with wine tasting. They were honestly so busy but the service we got for a place that we shouldn’t have got into was amazing. The platter was delicious as well.Would recommend this place but would recommend booking in advance to not be disappointed.

We didn't enjoy our visit at all.Service was slow and lacking. And when you did get it, it was pretty av.Food was ridiculous. We ordered the caprese salad and the fish. The salads were $28 and I kid you not, about 4 halved cherry tomatoes came out with 3 bits of cheese and a dabble of pesto. We were stunned. The flavour was nice but the service and portions don't warrant the price tag.With all the food options in Hawke's Bay, I'd keep on trucking somewhere else.

I went here for lunch on Saturday of Waitangi weekend and had the most lovely waitress serve our table. My best friend and I were there celebrating our birthdays and had the best time. We had a delicious lunch (I got the seafood linguine) and we shared a bottle of Clearview sparkling blush which was divine. I look forward to going back. Thank you!
