Don't bother going anywhere else! Best fish n chips we have had to date. Salt & pepper calamari was delicious, fish was fresh, moist and cooked to perfection. Chicken curry roll was fab and the chips are nice and crispy but not hollow and oily like most we've had elsewhere. Thanks for the great meal! We'll be back!

Ordered gurnad, big portions but not cooked enough and greasy, also Ordered oysters which were the smallest oysters I have ever had and they were greasy as well, as were the chips, did not enjoy at all and threw out more than we ate, experiece was not enhanced by the grumpy guy on the counter, was a one off for us

We had gurnard fish and chips about a week ago for a Friday lunch on the beach. Phoned our order in and by the time we parked and walked over it was ready. Sad to say the fish wasn't cooked still a bit clear and the batter fell off it. I was wondering if it had been cooked frozen? The chips were very nice but the experience wouldn't make us go back. Actually thought the owner wasn't new at this so not sure what went wrong. Cheryl SullivanFrom Richmond

We showed up after the closing time and the owner said that he was fine to serve us. We understood the humour of the owner, but others may have been offended by his comments. He is a lovely guy, and means no harm.We waited 15 mins, and that is how long we were told it was going to be. The food was actually quite pleasant. The chips and the Gurnard were both delicious and fresh. My only gripe was that it felt slightly pricey, but in fairness, it is right opposite the beach and the quality of the food was good.

Small but beautiful fish and chips shop owned by a lovely and very nice guy. You can also get almost everything gluten-free, and it’s suitable for celiacs. It tasted great!

Had some seriously good fish & chips on Friday night, bought the large family meal which fed our family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens). This was our first visit - we will definitely be back.

Best fish & chips we've tasted, cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced for beautiful fresh fish. The owner was very friendly too. We will definitely be back.

Nice guys I’m sure but the fish (Tarakihi) was not very nice at all and the fritters were not much better (undercooked), oysters were ok. Albeit mostly batter. Certainly it was the worst fish I’ve had in maybe decades (I actually wondered what I was eating with the first mouthful- my first thought was ‘is this off…’)I come from Tauranga and maybe I’m spoilt by our local chippie who does the best snapper, crab sticks, fritters - you name it, it’s all 11/10. This was by comparison 1/10. Pretty disappointing given its star rating - which was why I chose it. Probably don’t change the oil. Won’t ever be back.

Delicious and well battered fish (gurnard, snapper and whiting) and chips, bluff oyster, salt & pepper calamari. We like gurnard the best. Visited twice during our 2D1N stay in Nelson.Sad to know they are letting go their business for a break and for good. Good for them!!
