Youmans Studio - Paintings, Prints and Product Design from Rick Youmans

We had been hunting for a large piece of art for our new apartment for around a year and found what we were after at Youmans studio while in Raglan for a long weekend. Rick offered to deliver it to our place in Auckland and to check that it fitted well, which he did, and it did. He helped us place and hang it, we love it ! And we appreciate Rick's personal touch. When you visit Rick's studio, it would be hard not to fall in love with his artwork. We live near the water and our purchase highlights our values of fun and freedom.

Hi Rick, as you well know, I'm a great fan of your work, and also the Americas cup, especially those foiling flying boats. the original of the Cats from previous cup, is awesome, and I've now got the print on the wall, some lucky person I'm sure will snap up the original you now have in the studio. The simple black frame finishes it off beautifully. As for the newest addition to my wall. The latest Americas Cup scene created with the foiling monohulls is amazing. the size of it and detail in this rendition is fantastic and is a feature in my Bar/ pool room. love it. and the simple black Frame, plus the new wall colour we discussed really makes it pop. of coarse the beautiful little bit sexy water colour in the master bathroom really fits as well. a large house having featured art is a privilege I enjoy. A lot of talent Rick, with different media.. look forward to the next studio visit to see what is next.

I have been to Raglan three times now, and have purchased 5 stunning paintings from Rick which are displayed around my home. love the colour range and local scenery he has chosen. plan on buy two more pieces. and it has really finished my home beautifully. thanks so much Rick.

I bought a print from Rick when I went to the Wharf looking for fish and chips while on a camper van holiday in June. Was drawn to his studio and love his moody work and the deep contrasts and contradictions between man and nature. My husband instantly loved his 75th birthday present and recognised himself in the particular piece. “Introverted and depressive, with a bit of hope, just like me”.Thank you for this fascinating piece of original Kiwi art that we will both enjoy forever.

Attended a weekend art class run by Rick. It was wonderful, especially learning techniques with both ink and watercolour. Rick is is a patient, helpful and encouraging teacher with a wealth of experience to bring to his small, personalised classes.

Ricks work is incredibly striking, we love the colors and detail. Bought while on holiday in Raglan to be the center piece of our new kitchen. Everyone comments on how nice a piece it is, and how it ties everything together in that area.Rick was super nice and helpful when we approached him for what we were after. Just an overall nice person to deal with...highly recommend!! both artistically and business wise.

Every time we are in Raglan, we like to go for a stroll at the wharf and have a look at the artwork in the gallery. We especially like Rick's work with ink -- he created a vivid impressions of the coast with some strokes with a brush. They are very friendly and support you in finding the piece of artwork that connects to you.

Rick was professional and fun. It was my first watercolour course, I've done oils and acrylic in the past. I learned a lot. My friend Neil and I happened to be the only people attending this weekend. We felt we received lots of guidance and tutoring. I'm very happy with what I gained from the weekend. My paintings were not bad at all. Thank you Rick. Will pop in to see you.
