Extremely rude staff! Went to this place on Saturday afternoon. When we had finalised our payment we thanked the staff at the cashier desk who were so blatantly rude, without uttering a word back, completely ignored us as they were too busy talking between themselves. This place is far from welcoming, feels dark, has a terrible atmosphere, is dingy and overpriced. After the amazing service we received at the Matakana Village Pub to then walk into a place where the staff are too rude to show gratitude to your paying customers, we would never step back in this hole! Seems to be the norm after reading the other reviews.

The ribs were delicious and amazing, huge portion worth the price! Great service and atmosphere, the staff friendly. A nice restaurant to try when you’re in Warkworth.

Lovely staff, very popular and busy place. It was pretty loud due to being so popular and having so many people in one room. It also got really hot with the low heat lamp type lights. Two different sports games were playing so you're sorted if you like sports.The food was so good! Pricy but delicious. I loved my pizza & the donut tree was super fun for my group to share.I also loved how many different vegetarian options there were.I highly recommend trying this place out.

I don't usually leave negative reviews, but the service was so poor compared to the reputation, so I decided to write one. I'd give a zero star if I could.It was Saturday afternoon, around 12pm when we entered the restaurant. Most of the tables were empty, and I found a table for four and took a seat. There were about five people who appeared to be staff members, but we waited for about 10 minutes and no one came to our table. Couldn't wait any longer, I called a staff member who was busy chatting and asked if they had a menu since it was our first time here, and only then did they bring it over. It was difficult to understand why there was no response or acknowledgement from several staff members who passed by our table multiple times. We felt like we were just invisible there. Never had this experience before anywhere.It didn't take long for the food to arrive, and the food itself was not bad. However, the service from the staff was disappointingly poor, and the overall experience was extremely unpleasant. Therefore, I have no plans to visit again.PS Remember, it's not a child-friendly restaurant! Didn't even offer a highchair or anything at all.

We went for an impromptu lunch and was impressed with the variety of menu items. It was a late lunch and wasn't very busy. We were seated, and fairly quickly given menus and asked about drink orders. (Water is 'self-service only' at the bar.) Our order was taken, and it took awhile to get our food, but we were pleased with the food and generous portion size. The only downside was that our waitress never came back to check on us. We needed some takeaway boxes for leftovers, so I walked to the bar where the 3 wait-staff were congregated and visiting; It wasn't the best look despite them not being busy. Overall, our experience was a good one, though, and we would recommend it.

Matakana is known for it beautiful scenic beaches and wineries. The town itself is quaint and somewhat… busy as, even on a quiet weekday!With Aucklanders using it as a backyard to escape the mundane Monday to Friday, you can be sure this area will be buzzing with people by the droves in the weekend.If you happen to want some good nosh at reasonable prices, then head to the Rusty Pelican. You can’t miss it, it takes up a whole corner.They have an extensive menu even for takeaway. All I can say is yum and the portions were decent. Service was on point and you were made to feel welcome, vaccinated or not. Options were given, good on you for being proactive and kind.

4.5 stars! All the meals were very delicious. The portions were way larger than we expected as well and we needed takeaway boxes (you can easily just choose a few meal options to share with friends). Nice atmosphere as well. Will definitely come again.

We came on a public holiday, and clearly so did the rest of Auckland as it was very busy. There is no table service and a reasonably long queue at the bar, much to the chagrin of those in line. This blocked the main walkway for the majority of the time we were there.This is a typical kiwi pub, but with restaurant prices. Most places in matakana price for the Omaha crowd, so it’s generally more expensive than most pubs in NZ. The pizza was $28 but was a very good bar pizza. The chips were $10.50 for a small portion - disappointing.Staff were plentiful but you have to call them over as they will avoid eye contact, probably due to the lack of table service. We probably won’t come back.
