Delicious tender chicken and crinkle cuts chips. I was a chicken (pun intended) and went for the 0 but as I was waiitng I heard many warning about the heat of the chicken so be warned.The crinkle cut chips were great, I'm an Aussie and we don't get these often so I enjoyed them. The spice was perfect on them.

So delicious. The wings were phenomenal. Got the Level 1. Don't go level 0, you NEED the spice. The white bread at the end is an authentic touch. The Jam Donut is mint aswell, freshly cooked. Go here!

the best chicken in new zealand hands down and you can't change my mind. been coming here for over 5 years at their locations and nothing comes close.you want mild they do mild, you want your insides charred level 4 (or their experimental sauces) will do that.the team are great, location is perfect for a lunch in town. anyone coming to wellington i recommend the shacksupport the local lads

I've been to Soul Shack a few times. This time I went to take advantage of the Wellington Advent Calendar deal of $20.00 for one of the sandwiches with a chips and drink but I have attached the menu as of the date of this review. Normally I go for level 3 spiciness which is pretty intense for most people. I kind of stalled while choosing this time and it revealed how invested the guy was in the food he's serving as he gave a really balanced explanation of the different spice levels. I actually went for level 2 this time to try it out and I would say it's a good level that most spiciness enjoyers would like without having to be too challenged. Honestly not as good as it used to be before they temporarily closed. They often run out of stuff, now use a touch menu ordering system.Got my usual, a burger. Chicken wasn't crispy at all. Too much lettuce and bland sauce. Bun didn't hold together at all. Sad as it used to be so good. Mac n Cheese was not as cheesy and creamy as usual and lukewarm.There are better options unless your a real spice head and all you care about is heat.[reply] apparently not under new management. Was misinformed by a friend. Between the temporary closure, an updated menu, move to touch screen ordering, and a bellow standard meal it seemed likely.The owners response is why I leave reviews instead of asking for a refund. It just isn't done in NZ; you'll most likely get a negative response from management and that conflict isn't worth the hassle. In Europe sure I'd complain but in NZ not worth it.I get criticism hurts but when you set a standard and then don't meet it or change things that ain't on the customer. Learn from the feedback or don't but I'm not going back after this sort of reaction.

I'm a seasoned chili eater.I absolutely loved the boneless meal with Carolina reaper (level 4). If you like chili then you need to come here so you can truly appreciate how well Carolina reaper goes down when combined with the juiciest chicken around and well complimented by that Nashville seasoning.From start to finish, my experience at your restaurant was nothing short of fantastic. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with friendly staff who were eager to assist me in selecting the perfect meal as it was my first time here.Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. The chicken was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and ultra JUICY on the inside, with just the right amount of breading. And the spice! - mouthwatering just writing this review the next day.Overall, I can't recommend this place highly enough. If you're a fan of chicken and spicy food, you absolutely must try the Carolina Reaper chili chicken at this place (even the Habanero/Ghost Pepper version also available would have been delish). The combination of flavors is truly unique and unforgettable, and the service is outstanding - The frontman behind the counter was very down to Earth and kindly appreciative of both my custom as well as my request for something VERY spicy.Next time I'm in Wellington, I'm coming back to visit.Note: food in pictures may look small but they were actually very generous portions which took me all the way to dinner.

If you want amazing Nashville fried chicken Soul Shack is THE place to go. With heat levels to suit all tastes, a bouncy vibe and immaculate customer service Soul Shack has it all.Thanks for melting my face with the level 4 chicken.

No frills kinda joint. Service was friendly enuf. BUT the Fried chicken was super duper good. I got the level 3 and level 4 and gave me a bit of a sweat. Chicken was juicy and tender. Good stuff.!!! I reckon I could go high level but 4 was their max. Still good though.
