If it was possible to give this place a negative rating i would. Parked there with my son to see a late showing at the Events Cinema next door. Dutifully took notice of the sign saying the place closed its doors at twelve midnight. No dramas - the movie finished at about 11.30. Arrive back from the movie, pay for the ticket, drive down to the exit. Roller doors shut, despite this being 11.30. Press the button on the ticketing machine at the barrier for assistance. Takes a while but we finally get someone. Explain the situation. He raises the barrier arms! Call him again to explain, again, that the roller doors are shut and have been shut early for some reason. The guy hangs up! Repeated pressing of the call button fails to raise anyone. So we call the cell phone listed as the contact point for the carpark after hours. Get the same guy, who after some discussion hangs up again. (By the way we are not alone doing this as another car was stranded there as well.) Finally get through to him that we cannot get out because the roller doors are shut and that lifting the barrier arm is of no use. Says he cannot do anything about it. He hangs up, again. Pester him with call button until he replies. Ask him if he can call someone to open the doors. He does not know how to open the doors, he does not know whom to call. Jesus. Suggest he lifts the barrier arm for the entry lane, which for some reason is still open. This idea takes a long time to get through but after fifteen minutes and threatening to call the police, we finally escape from the car park. I will never park there again. I will make sure that everyone I know that goes to the movies in Newmarket knows about this and I will be calling Event Cinemas to point out that they might need to give the owners of the carpark a rocket as it was a very unpleasant way to end the evening. The owners of the carpark might want to look at their systems and staff training for people handling this sort of situation and they may wish to look at why the doors were closed at least half an hour early!
