Close to beach, restaurant and 4 square. It’s quite a good camp but would recommend some upgrades namely the ablution blocks and toilets. They definitely need upgrading. Overall, it’s not too bad.

Tenting site is alot smaller than we thought. The kids playground is actually dangerous and should be demolished or get proper look at. the toilets and showers clean and nice. The kitchen is clean and fridges make a nice change. Take your own refuse bags as none are provided for your expensive nights tenting. Beaches are close and clean.

Pretty relaxed and friendly camping ground so close to one of the nicest beaches in the lower north island of NZ

A small cheap camp but which could do with some improvements with little cost. The smaller ablutions block was shabby. No shower curtain and the water would stop more than once during a shower. Kitchen was adequate but the owner moaned about the lack of cleaning by some campers yet there are no cloths provided for cleaning the sinks. TV was broken and light bulb missing in the TV room. These are little things but it doesn't cost much to rectify even if the camping is cheap. I have been to a lot of similar camps ito cost and more is provided. Most of the camp is occupied by permanent caravans but the feel to the camp is good. Just be prepared to be woken early morning by fishermen heading out of camp for the early morning. And some of the tent sites are too close to the permanent sites if the residents are occupying them.If I ever have to stay in this town again, I would try the other campground for comparison.

Affordably priced with decent sized tent spots and cabins available. Communal kitchens and bathrooms are always keep clean. Close to the beach with many walkways accessible near the motor camp. Kids playground has recently been upgraded making it a fun and safe area for kids of any ages to play. The playground also overlooks the beach and has the most amazing view, especially at sunset, (pictured below). Definitely the cleanest, most affordable, and overall nicest beach camp I’ve been to, with Waitarere Beach being one of the best beaches in the lower north island.

Be sure to check the pricing versus the webpage. The owners aren't up to play with the cost differences quoted and it pays to confirm and verfiy. Small area for placing tents and overall not a bad place to camp. Decent facilities (Toilet / Shower Block). Easy access out to beach area as well.

A classic, feel-good, fair dinkum and true blue NZ motorcamp, like when i was a kid. Friendly, efficient staff who answer the phone, reasonable prices and very friendly permanent campers. Basic amenities, lots of trees, short walk to the beach, close to shops, no road noise, just waves and birdsong. What more could you ask?

Price is a tad overpriced for the experience.$40 for 2 people, unpowered site. The beach is beautiful and we were tired, next time we may look elsewhere.Pros- Bathrooms were decorative and clean, kitchen was clean and had 2 sinks. Late minute bookings available. Access to the beach via gate at the far end of the property, 2 minute walk from there to the beach.Cons- Non powered sites on the hill were precarious, there was a slip so you need to be a good driver to use those sites. The 'stairs' to go down to use the bathroom and kitchen were more like a wooden ramp and there were rotten planks. For $40 the accessibility wasn't up to standard, the view was nice and it was a family vibe.

Loved our stay. Friendly permanents and regulars. Found a sheltered space for 2 long caravans. Clean facilities. Surf life saving on duty.Water warm and we felt very safe in the mild waves.
