Patearoa Hotel has amazing food and the staff is super friendly! The atmosphere was very warm and i felt right at home. My partner and I also stayed in one the hotel rooms and it was so lovely and comfy. very accommodating! Would highly recommend to anyone who is passing by, looking for somewhere to grab a bite, those who want a drink and a chat and to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay!

i had a very relaxed experience staying at the hotel, the food was delicious, the staff are good company and make you feel right at home. its very family friendly and theres activities inside and outside of the bar for both kids and adults. make sure to stop in for a hot drink to recharge, or for an ice cold beer to wind down.

Delightful pub, excellent accommodation and wonderful hosts. Couldn't ask for more... but there was! If cycling, the road from Ranfurly to Patearoa is a very easy ride with smooth surface, well worthwhile.

We spent several days in the area visiting friends and did all our dinning and drinking at the Patearoa. It was great weather to sit outside in the beer garden for drinks and lawn games and the one day it was chilly, the fire places inside kept us warm and cozy. The portions of the food were filling and tasted great! I LOVE THEIR COLESLAW!!!!!!!!The pub inside isn't like all the other typical pubs. The decor inside is inviting and draws you in where you want to stay awhile. The cocktails are refreshing and it is nice to have options other than beer. The Manger Bianca was so friendly and helpful with her recommendations on the menu and drinks, we left everything in her hands with our orders and couldn't be happier! She is so creative and has such good energy. The owner Louie who makes the delicious food and his wife Sophie who manages the adorable accommodations were so friendly and hands on. It was so nice to meet them and see the pride they have in their establishment. There is also a tattoo studio!!! The resident tattoo artist Camo helped me create a beautiful piece that I love!!! Where else can you go for good food, drinks and get a tattoo all in the same place?!?!?We are looking forward to coming back there again when they have one of their international cuisine nights! I love that even though this place is in a small town, that they have pushed past the norm of every small town pub you would pass on the road and have created something unique and in a class of its own. Thanks for an awesome experience and making us feel like locals while we were visiting for the week!

What a great find to start our holiday. The Normans have completely renovated this historic country pub and they both add a very personal touch to the service. Like many in the business they have had trouble getting staff but you wouldn't have known, apart from the limited menu choices on the night we visited. But the two pizzas were ordered were outstanding and highly recommended.Apparently they have more staff coming in January, but don't wait till then if you're in the area. This is a great twist on a country pub and obviously appreciated by the locals.

WOW, what an awesome wee pub! In the middle of nowhere, there's a pub that makes you feel like you're on holidays. Amazing cocktails, delicious food and genuine welcoming staff. Best nights out I've had in my life! The entertainment is top notch. Definitely worth the drive!

What a great pub! We walked in to a bustling jovial atmosphere, and were greeted by lovely bar staff. The drink selection was fantastic and the poor was fresh. We ordered our meals from a great but simple menu, and were blown away by the food! The steaks were tender and perfectly cooked, the adults burger was huge and quite possibly the best burger in the world, and the kids burger was, as my 8 year old was stuffing his face and unable to speak, worthy of a mega thumbs up! Oh and move over McDonald's, these fries are the best!!!!!! Well done team, we will be back!!

I give them 5 stars too. Passing by after fishing. The room was comfortable and shower water hot. Clean and newly renovated.Nice shrimp cocktail before the burger. Pleasant local company at the bar and the staff/owner went out of his way to please us.
