New Paradise

There are a plethora of Indian restaurants in Wellington CBD and Lower Hutt. However, finding a restaurant that can do Indian cuisine well is rare. This was my first time ordering from New Paradise, and always, I order either lamb or chicken biriyani. Biriyani is a dish that is rarely made to order and delivered to the customer within 30 minutes. This is done at least a couple of hours in advance to develop flavours. Understanding the implications, a good Indian restaurant should be able to slowly mimic the deep flavours and season the dish well.Despite the lamb biriyani being seasoned, this is where it stops. There were one-third bits of lamb bones with very little to no pieces of meat and shards of bone were mixed amongst the rice which questioned the integrity of the dish. Especially with the cost of food going up, customers need to feel that their money is well spent in terms of the amount of food, but also not feeling like they are ripped off with large pieces of bone that fills up the contents rather than the rice itself.Short-comings were clear. There was bone in every bite. The value of the biriyani didn't feel like it was worth what was paid for. It felt hurriedly put together and didn't invoke confidence to try any of their curries or other dishes.My suggestion to the restaurant would be to actually use chunks of lamb. Doesn't have to be a lot. Maybe a handful of lamb would be more fitting to call the biriyani, lamb biriyani".Moreover

This restaurant was on my bucket list and did not disappoint. The menu was interesting with just the right amount of choice.Spice & Heat indicators were accurate. Food was excellent and inexpensive.Staff were attentive and pleasant.

Incredible food and amazing service, I came across it while I was in Lower Hutt one day and now whenever I feel like some good Indian cuisine I will drive from Wellington CBD to Lower Hutt just for their delicious chicken 65.

The food is good, biriyani and chicken lolipop is worth buying for sure

I have never found any Indian restaurant which made me come back for the second time. Their chicken tandoori is a must try. The first time when I had it wasn’t enough so I had to go for the second round. The chicken is soft, juicy and cooked well. You don’t find tandoori juicy in many restaurants. Where there is taste and quality price really doesn’t matter. And, I find their price reasonable too. I will come back again to try some different dishes now. Thanks :)

Sampled some of their chili chicken and tandoori chicken.. The Tandoori is some of the tastiest I've ever had, definitely try this !The chili chicken is amazing too! I asked them to make it as hot as possible and although I've had hotter, the flavor profile is incredible and it's definitely not lacking the heat. YUM!!Look forward to dining in sometime soon rather than uber eats :)

Fully enjoyed our dinner here. The Lamb Briyani was soooo good. Hands down the best Ive tried. The chicken lollie pops were full of flavour, moist and fresh. The butter chicken - well. I went out on a leap of faith after the kind man told me there was no sugar in their food and that it wasnt like the usual sweet stuff us kiwis love so much. I can honestly say It was the bomb. It was rich, creamy and jam packed full of flavour and I still had half left over. Naan bread was fresh and hot as well. Fully rate this place.

Only in Lower Hutt for a 3 day workshop at Open Polytechnic and ventured out to find a delicious halal meal and was successful with New Paradise.Friendly service. I ordered the mild desi butter chicken and really enjoyed it, wasn't overly sweet like the typical westernised version and was flavorsome. Garlic Naan was ok, I prefer mine too be more thicker than crispy. Onion bhaji was a perfect blend of a crunchy batter and onion, love the tamarind sauce wish it was double the size to have enough for the serving of the bhaji.Overall loved my meal, and know of at least one great place to visit for a delicious halal curry meal, next time I visit.Thank you for an enjoyable meal this afternoon.

I absolutely love the food here. My absolute favorite is the indo Chinese fried rice and noodles. Simply superb. The chef and the staff are very understanding as well, willing to take concerns and do according..simply love thos place and it is my comfort food!!!!
