Silverstream Alpaca Farmstay & Farm Tour

No heating in the cabin, it was so cold that it ruined our stay.It was freezing the whole night with blanket heaters only.The heat pump in the hall cannot fight against the cold.The host was great & friendly.Breakfast was minimal but adequate.But the cafe the host recommended had great food.

Amazing but I think $40 per person visit is way too much.We hardly spent 30-35 mins for 1 hour tour.You will get bored after 10-15 mins.

Kit was a charming host and his knowledge of alpacas was amazing. We enjoyed our two hour tour of the farm in October and came back with lovely memories and photos. My five year old granddaughter was absolutely taken with the alpacas

Silverstream Alpaca Farmstay is a must-do experience for anyone who loves animals.We spent a night at this farmstay, and I can safely say this was the highlight of our trip. Kit and Sheryl are wonderful hosts, warm and hospitable and making sure our stay is enjoyable. Although Kit and Sheryl were busy preparing for the NZ Agricultural Show, Kit still made the time to take us on his truck to his other alpaca farm where we could feed and interact with his alpacas, and he was also very informative about his alpacas and answered so many of our questions patiently. He has a genuine love for his alpacas and it’s such a joy to see.And yes, the alpacas are utterly adorable, not to mention highly intelligent, and it’s interesting to learn about them.The accommodation is also charming and really comfortable. We had a large, spacious cottage to ourselves, it was clean and well-maintained, and the bed and furnishings were extremely comfortable. There are also beautiful flowers in front of our cottage and in the estate garden. Sheryl brought over breakfast items including bread, eggs, cereal, yoghurt, milk and spreads for us in the evening for our breakfast as well, which I think is such a lovely touch.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and we would recommend this farmstay and tour to anyone who loves animals.

Had a one night stay in Silverstream alpaca farmstay. We enjoyed our stay there and had a fantastic experience interacting with the Alpacas! Makes me want to moveout of the city and live in the farmlands.Kit was a wonderful host! His story of his journey to becoming an Alpaca farm owner, to guiding us on how to interact with Alpacas was interesting and fun!Cottage was spacious and comfortable. There's a small kitchen for cooking, else you can go to nearby restaurants for your meals.Definitely recommend!

We had a wonderful farm tour hosted by Kit who was so knowledgeable and generous with his time! He showed us around different spots and we had ample time to interact with his adorable and friendly alpacas. Photo opportunities were also aplenty and Kit would gladly create those opportunities for you! We hope to be back again next time for the farm stay. This place is alpaca heaven just 30mins away from the heart of Christchurch by public bus (and only about 15mins if you drive) - there is no reason to give this place a miss.Just a tip for people taking bus 95 - do not follow Google maps! It will bring you to the opposite end of the farm and you will not be able to access it from that side as it’s separated by a stream.

I had nice alpaca visiting experience, The owner shared a lot of his framer life, he quite talkative and hospitality person. It's really worth it to came here.

Came with our family from Australia to visit family and drive down to Queenstown to visit the snow. But came here for a night. Wow! We all loved Silverstream Alpaca Farm-stay and the farm Tour. It is definitely a hidden Gem for people wanting to visit Christchurch. Great alternative to a hotel stay. The accommodation was excellent.The whole family love the farm tour and our host was more than happy to share his knowledge and experience of running an alpaca farm. We were all able to get up close and personal experience with the Alpacas.Highly recommend a stay here.
