We were stranded at the end of the earth (Milford Sound), no data, no phone cover, no service station or garage and our car had sprung an oil leak. Local info centre had a landline and we were advised to call Dave from Mountain View Mechanics in Te Anau. He turned up and confirmed fault, we loaded the car onto his trailer and in no time he had us back in civilisation (Te Anau) where we could organise a plan to get home. Thanks Dave for interrupting your Sunday and coming to our rescue.

Awesome and a life saver! Called at 22:30pm on a Saturday after our back door refused to close. Needed to get to Milford sound for a cruise by 10am the next morning. David took a look at 730am and we’re fixed up and on the road to Milford by 7:50am.These guys are legends. Capable, crazy flexible and all done with a smile and some good banter.

We would highly recommend Mountain View Mechanics. David was not only professional but welcoming, and offered us services for a lower cost than others in town (and with an earlier appointment). We got the cam belt changed in our campervan after a previous mechanic didn’t secure it correctly back in 2017. He is honest and definitely doesn’t take advantage of backpackers. So overall a great service at a great price by a nice local mechanic.

Dave rescued us on the road to Milford Sound after our car experienced two blowouts hitting a hidden culvert (a terrible hazard!). Finding tyre replacements and returning us to Te Anau was really complicated, but he seemed to effortlessly make it happen. We can’t say enough about his professionalism and his kindness. He went above and beyond any expectation, making sure we were back safely on the road. He also helped us with all the documentation for our insurance claim. We’d trust him with any service he offers.

Dave is a lifesaver! When all other mechanics are closed on weekends and would charge crazy fees to open, Dave was most accommodating and helpful. He patched our tyre quickly, and he and the whole family were just lovely to chat with until the job was done. Honest and decent, I'd recommend him to anyone.

We did a fan belt in our ute .. called David on new years eve...he sorted parts from out of town organised freight and arrived next day..he then came out on public holiday and fitted new parts... very much appreciated and highly reccomend...thank you so much....
