Te Henga Walkway Parking
Quite small carpark that leads to the start of the Te Henga Walkway. The parking for Lake Wainamu and the Great Dunes is across the road but this place seems to have a bit more parking than th other one. The carpark has street parking on both sides of the road so it can get quite tight.

Amazing place. Especially when it's sunny. Great hike and if you go further up to the peak it will takfkw another hour or two until you get to muriwae? (forgive my spelling) beach.

The new bridge is up. This is an excellent, beautiful walk, or a good hard run. It's definitely not for people who are unfit – as done sections are quite steep and the full walkway is 10km end to end; 20km round trip – and some sections require a bit of nimbleness to cross challenging terrain, and the path can be quite narrow with steep drops on one side, so if you're unsteady on your feet it's probably not for you.

The Te Henga Walk between Bethells and Muriwai really shows the spectacular beauty of New Zealand’s West Coast Beaches. After driving across the bridge take a sharp right instantly to find Te Henga Walkway Parking. There’s space for 8-10 cars to park in the car park or find a free piece of grass. Be sure not to park in front of a gate though. On arriving cross the bridge and fill up your bottle before starting the adventure. Follow your nose down the paddock to the beach and you’ll find a gate to enter the track.Starting 20-30mins is easy, and then it’s a hard slog until you hit the top of the hill. With plenty of places to stop and admire the beauty, you’ll be sure to walk away with some photos that are ‘gram’ worth.Track is fairly exposed, so dress to the conditions and take a wind breaker/rain jacket as the weather can change pretty fast.Walkway can be slippery in winter but what track isn’t. Enjoy the adventure, and be sure to pick up a real fruit ice-cream on the return trip to Auckland from Phil’s Strawberries.

Te Henga Walkway Parking
Good parking space at the start of this track. We have a low vehicle and there has been a lot of rain recently so we were a little unsure if the car park would be suitable for us. The drive and parking spaces are largely sandy so drains well (even in winter) and it is generally even ground so a good parking spot to access this track.

A truly gorgeous walk only 30 minutes drive from the city center. How lucky are we in NZ?

Walked along the Te Henga walkway and it was stunning, even on an overcast day. Would highly recommend to all who want to go for a light hike.
