The museum is free, and it has a collection local historical items that I always find interesting to explore. Plus, they frequently change the exhibition halls to expand their offer.

We visited the exhibition on the history of the 1931 Earthquake in Hawkes Bay. Exhibits was well documented and displayed, and educational.The museum staff are also very friendly and polite. Overall, a lovely visit!

Loved the experience. Tinge of sadness remembering the awesomely old cluttered version of the museum. Well worth a look whilst visiting Napier . Some wonderful exhibits inc the 1931 earthquake display .

An easy walk if you have no mobility problems but as you'd expect it's uphill all the way with a steeper incline for the last 100m. Well worth the effort for the views over Nelson and there are helpful photos to show the different areas you can see.

FREE! Nice friendly staff. Located right on the waterfront at the end of the main art deco street. Cute and small with 3 floors of the rotating exhibits.

A small but very good museum. The exibit on the 1931 earthquake was one of the highlights as was the exibit hilighting creative artists from the Hawkes Bay. There was a activity sheet for the children which kept them busy.
