Nice burger, but they use the funny oil (palm I'm guessing) that makes everything taste whack! Luckly the burgers not fried in the same oil but the chips were.

We ordered from here after hearing good reviews & were not disappointed. Everything was great & my mum who is coeliac said it was the best gluten free fish she has had in Christchurch. Would highly recommended & will definitely be back.

Probably one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve come across. In particular the chips are perfect, no scraps or overcooked chips included. The fish was also cooked well but a little smaller than I’d expect for blue cod. Best in the area hands down

Tried out as had good review for gluten free fish. While they don't serve grilled fish gluten free the battered version was crispy and not too thick and the fish was not dry. Chips were great. Affordable too. Rutland will now be our local!

They are always so polite and friendly even though I always phone order like 10min before closing, the chips are soooo crunchy and their patties are good as well. Burgers are a bit too salty but delicious, I like the pineapple and cheese burger.

Found a great fish & chip shop at last!Had the best ever fish & chips, crunchy, clean and no stale oil taste. They Included an extra piece of blue cod as one was a little small, huge and obviously home made curry roll - will definitely be back. Very friendly service too

Very busy fish and chip shop, servicing a large area. Service is always good and food is mostly good too. From time to time they close when you least expect it, like tonight, first Saturday night (rainy and cold - perfect for fish and chips) of school holidays. Please put an answer only message on your phone to advise you are closed.

Recently shifted into central city, finding a good fish’n chip shop for the occasional must have, we had tried several around the city and luckily found this place ‘Rutland Street fnc’s’. First time there we ordered our food over the phone, arrived there 10-15mins later, paid for meal and given our number. 30-35mins later (around a 45min wait in total, it was very busy, full shop and for good reason as follows!) we finally got our order and headed back to our apartment in town. 45mins was for us quite a long wait however once we got home and opened up our hot paper wrapped meal we were really impressed with how fresh, crispy and golden fried our food was, I mean it was just dam good looking, smelt absolutely like fncs should smell but fresh, not like some places it can smell ‘greasy’ and old or kind of bland but once we took first bite into the fish, omg! Wow!! Hot, crispy and delicious, well cooked, as was the entire meal of chips, fish and hotdogs, also not over the top greasy. Was seriously well worth the long wait, as the team at ‘Rutland streetFish and Chips’ have to be by far the best in town. I haven’t tasted fncs like this since i was a kid, that special treat was delicious! Perhaps they could give a heads up in wait times when they can but seriously, honestly was just the best we’ve had and have made this our absolute ‘go to’ for that classic kiwi takeaway meal 10/10!! Thanks so much, great value too, hard to beat this place!D
