A stress-free Christmas feast, who wouldn't want! Thank you for preparing such amazing dishes for our Christmas dinner, all our guests had enjoyed every single one especially the rendang turkey, the flavors were amazing!! We're from the other side of town but will surely drop in and dine if we're passing by in the new year!

Ordered 4 dishes for 2 adult and 1 child. It is too much but we could not resist ourselves after reading the menu. Foods are nice, authentic and reasonably priced. Will come back again to try for other dishes.

Updated June 2023 - They changed hand, it is no longer cook by the same Chef (the restaurant's name is misleading!?). The tastes are completely different. I ordered sambal and curry, both of them are a little bit bitter. The satay chicken is too sweet.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I was their customer since they opened in Auckland Night maket. I'm so glad they are now have their own restaurant. There are more options than night market. Very friendly owner and very tasty food

Delicious Malaysian/Indian flavours in the heart of Panmure. Always a joy to see the lovely smiles of Chef Joe and his wife.Warm and friendly service in the restaurant and very in touch with the communtiy.Their menus are constantly changing so there is always new surprises every time you visit.Thank you to the staff at Bakar for always welcoming everyone with great service and bringing amazing flavours of South East Asia!

Good service, friendly. Enjoyed the goat curry and eggplant sambal.Visited again with colleagues. Enjoyed the nasi ganja, fish curry, rojak pasembur and three Queens and a king dish.

We ordered the Beef Rendang, Squid Curry, and Nasi Ganja (rice).A lot is said about their beef rendang, and it was definitely tasty. However, we were more surprised at how good their squid curry was. More should be done to advertise this too. Amazing.Would recommend anyone to go here if you want to try Malaysian food, or for Malaysian's who are missing home, craving a good curry or rendang!

Excellent service with a smile. Original decor with Malaysian music.......apparently one could sing Karaoke as well.Had the Agong's platter and it is certainly fit for a king. Authentic seafood open fire grill. Prawns are large.... There were at least 6 I think and maybe more with squid and pan fried snapper.The Tofu Sumbat has a refreshing yet refined palate to it.The Teh tarik the real thing with real tea and not the 3 in 1 kind..... with the tea truly pulled apart.Lastly, the Durian Milk shake...... the real taste of the King of fruits permeates through delicious drink.Overall, we had a wonderful dinner night out indeed.Mesti pulang""

I am writing this review while I am still sitting down at the table, after having what I would say, probably, was the best dinner I have had in New Zealand, and I am still smiling: the food is wonderful, intricate and simple at the same time. The complexity of the flavours is such a relief to be found, in what is becoming a monotonic experience around NZ. The texture of the ingredients hits you in such a surprising way with every bite and in the end, brings a smile on your face. Joe, the owner and chef, is a wonderful host, welcoming and joyful; very highly recommended! Remember to let him recommend you the right dish for you!
