Te Aroha Summit Track Trail Head
Very good track, not an easy one. 2,5 hours to the top with a big height rise, and 4 hours to finish the loop on the way back. The full track was close due to the blockage after the cyclone, part of the track is going on the town street.

I'm so greatful for the photos from people that put them here, due to a back injury I doubt I will ever get to the top of Mt Te Aroha. I love to see our town from the top of the mountain of love ❤️❤️❤️

Starts off at the Te Aroha Domain car park go up the walkway towards the geyser and on the left before the geyser is the beginning of the summit trail(orange marker). It's a 2-3hr walk on signboard, good fitness level needed as its quite a intense walk as its uphill with steep steps on parts of walkway and parts where climbing is required also couple of flat spots to relax the legs, there were a few kids that walked up when I did it. On the way to summit youll come to a lower lookout (Whakapipi lookout) has a nice view looking over Te Aroha township. And the views at the summit are definitely worth the walk/hike.

Amazing views at the cost of very sore legs. You have to be an advanced and very fit walker to be comfortable on this 5km/940m/2.45 hour (one way) walk. You’ll walk on a very steep unformed track, at times you’re bouldering/scrambling over near sheer rock climb and there are lots of roots.Inexperienced and unfit walkers could get themselves into real trouble. The views at the top are tremendous but it will be a once in a lifetime trip for us.
