Scenic Hotel Dunedin City

We absolutely loved this place. Location was perfect. Close to the Octagon where the night life was amazing and we were able to walk to the bars without the need for a taxi. Room was crisp and clean. The iron did destroy one of my shirts because it hadn't been maintained which was the only down side. Price was so much cheaper than I expected. This was not our usual place to stay when we visit dunedin. But this is now our new go to. (Next time I'll be bringing my own iron)

This was by far the worst place I stayed at in Dunedin. I have stayed at many different motels and hotels, usually in the $250 bracket. This one was considerably more expensive, close to $400; they hiked the prices because all the new students with their families arrived in town. Nice one.When we got there at 3 pm our room was not ready. we were offered nothing, no cup of tea, not anything, just told to come back in half an hour. In half an hour the room still was not ready. Then we were given another room. It was filthy, dusty, hair on the carpet, we wondered if it was a room waiting for renovation, but not done yet!? Double charged for parking (which was a joke as well, as the card did not work)I have rung and spoken to the manager and told them my concerns. still no apology or anything.Never ever will go back to that dump.

I stayed here for a work trip and was a bit disappointed being it's a 4.5 star hotel. The buffet breakfast is excellent, comfy bed and great shower. But the room was very cold (had to run the heating all night), the room was very bland, tired looking and lacked personality. There was a long black hair in the shower and a silverfish from a blanket. Very few options for in room hot drinks, snacks, milk wasn't replaced. Refurbishing the rooms would make a huge difference, not worth over $200 per night.

This was a very difficult place to navigate if you have a car. I had to drive around for ages, park on a yellow line to get my luggage out of the car. It's OK if you book parking in advance, as there are not many parks in the tiny garage.Something was very noisy as I was trying to go to sleep (maybe the fridge) and it was not as clean as I would have liked. I wonder if they are not fully staffed, as the corridors needed vacuuming for the 3 days I was there. But absolutely fine as somewhere to stay while working, especially if you don't have a car, but still OK if you ensure to book parking in advance.

Great stay at Scenic Hotel Dunedin City. Staff were welcoming. The self check in kiosks were great for a seamless check in and check out.I used the in room Chromecast to watch a movie from my phone. The wifi is super fast.The room I had was large with a view over the city. Rooms were quiet with air conditioning. Very short walk to the Casino, the Octagon and the train station (bit further, but close).Would definitely come back.

Room was great but no parking available for nights I was there with street parking king only option which was not ideal. Room service food was a better experience than breakfast in the restaurant. Seem to cater for your groups and any after need to pick through the scraps. Also went to use laundry, which was conveniently place, but required coins so went to reception, who then informed me they don’t do cash out and had no coins they could give to use there own coin operated machines. The solution was to try convince stores down the road to purchase something to get some coins to put in their machines. Was not impressed with this as a visitor to the city you shouldn’t send people out to an unfamiliar location to get coins to operate their machines placed for our convenience. The hotel should either make machines free or use tokens that you can access easily and charge back to room.Staff were friendly, process needs reviewing on some things.

Rooms aren't the newest, but were comfortable and well appointed. Great spot being close to town. Just make sure you book for parking early as there aren't many carparks in the surrounding area

Can’t believe that basic requirements like toothbrush/toothpaste not provided. When asked for it at reception, was told it’s chargeable at NZ$4. No choice got to purchase but the packaging looks exactly how a hotel would provide for free. Rooms old, only good thing is the location. Will not be back.

A very nice place to stay.Pros: The room was comfortable, spacious, and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. The TVs are all set up to cast to (I took my own Chromecast and didn't need it in the end). A very comfortable bed. Easy walk to find food.Cons: Bathroom is a little dated.
