Outstanding hut and campsite. The warden there is a super nice bloke, I was the only one booked into the campsite. Nathan (the hut warden) came down to check on me multiple times, and I could tell he is the type of person who tries hard to give people a positive experience. Even us introverts. Best doc hut I've been to so far.Give that man a pay rise.

Spacious cabin, shared bunks (not separate) amazing views of both mountains while eating breakfast, River and Forest short walk away. Not staffed in off season so take everything you need with you (toilet paper, hand sanitizer, cooking equipment etc) historic hut is a short distance away

Really a very big, new, warm and well facilitated hut. It's part of the Tongariro northern circuit and about 1.5 hrs easy walk from road end at desert road. Very large common area, 2 separate bunk rooms holds up to 24 pax and outside toilet. Big windows with great views of Ngaruhoe. Has a fire place with adequate firewood, gas cookers only on during the great walk season, taps in kitchen (very slow), solar powered hot water (was not working when we were there). Close by the historic hut (10mins) and springs which is actually just a stream.

Very clean and tidy hut. Great set up with beautiful views. The hut warden Richie was great. He welcomed and informed everyone about the area in Maori and English, and told a good night time story about the land and its ancestors. Couldn't fault the stay

Flash and new hutt. Best hut on the Tongariro Circuit. Lots of cooking spaces and games to play in the evenings

New, awesome DOC hut. In a very good condition, spacious, with plenty of tables and space to stay. Pictures of old, small (and red) hut are from historic hut, ~1km from this one.

Great new hut. Amazing views from the deck and the main dining area. It can get busy but worth a trip. Nice to head out to Rangipo desert for a recce if you have a day off.

Nice and ample DOC hut, the Palace of the Park". Everything is nice and new. But the campsite is some minutes away

This is the nicest hut on the Tongariro circuit and one of the most comfortable I've stayed at in NZ. The common area is spacious with plenty of tables, benches and stoves so everyone can cook and eat dinner at once. There's even warm water in the kitchen taps and the whole thing is heated with a log fire and well insulated. There are some nice short walks nearby. For those camping, the campsite is gorgeous, with some small, well protected clearings amoungst the beech trees down by the stream. It did get quite cold there though on the night I camped in late April.

One of the most beautiful huts I saw during my long stay in new Zealand. Lighting, spacious dinging room and kitchen. Wonderful views towards Mt Doom.Visit the traditional hut around the corner. A very interesting historic experience.
