Took about 15 minutes to get to the top of the stairs and treated with great views of lake Dunstan.

NZ is beautiful and this was a great landmark travelling all the way from the Northern 38th to the Southern 45th!

This is a great spot for geography nerds. The 45th parallel marks the halfway point between the equator and the South Pole. The roadside marker has parking accessible by both road lanes and runs along a walkway by the lake. There is also a marker along the hilltop if anyone fancies the hike.

Spectacular view. A must do when visiting Cromwell. I walked up with the kids ages 5- 9 years old and they loved it! We lost count of the stairs we climbed. A fantastic steep walk.

45th Parallel NZ is a place for a great hike. Steep steps to the top and in some places steep decent. Beautiful views from the top. Mountain was covered with wild flowers.

Seems silly but it’s kinda awesome to realise you’re exactly half way between the equator and the South Pole. Geography is great!
