The Wharf Hub

came here for kiwi pruning in june of 2020, and wound up staying for a whole year. The house is in a great location on the mouth of a river, and is surrounded by the stunning mountain ranges of the east cape and waioeka gorge. Lloyd is a superb host and goes above and beyond the call of duty for his tennants in this restored century old house with a nautical theme. As a bonus, If the tides right, he might even take you out on the boat fishing! surfing, bush walks, beaches, glow worms, rivers, mountains, fishing and historical sight seeing are all a short drive from the house

The Wharf Hub is not just an accommodation, it became our home and Lloyd, the best host you could possibly get, our family. The house has a beautiful vegetable, fruit and herb garden, is located next to the river (a walkway leads you right to the ocean) and is just a few walking minutes away from town. You can tell that Lloyd puts his love into every corner of the Wharf Hub, every room is cozy and individual, the kitchen and the living room are great communal hang out areas where you'll surely make new friends. But the best part about the Wharf Hub is Lloyd, the friendliest host, who always made sure that our needs were met and that we were feeling at home. He took us out fishing on his boat several times, he organized communal dinners, when we got sick he helped us finding a doctor and when we felt sad he made us laugh and cheered us up. We are so grateful for our time with Lloyd and the Wharf Hub and will forever remember it as a big part of our New Zealand experience. Fantastic host...great weather

I stayed here for six months working on a kiwi orchard. Nice and quiet little town if you like that. Also good for fishing, (sometimes Lloyd, the owner, takes you out with him on his boat) and kayaking (also available from Lloyd) or just taking a swim in the ocean or river. Rooms for couples and boys and girls dorm with 4 beds. Good sized kitchen and lounge area. Occasional group dinners (Christmas, Chinese new year, good byes for people staying there). I really enjoyed my time here. Thanks Lloyd

tayed at The Wharf Hub for close to a year. It's been enjoyable and eventful. Lloyd is a great host providing a variety of activities including kayaking, cycling and fun events. Spacious garden with plenty of fruit trees and herbs. The house is in a great location, 5minute walk to town and is on the river front which is great for fishing. The river has a slide and rope swing, nice for a swim after work! Very eco-friendly, quiet and clean house. Would definitely be a returning guest.
