The best little bay in the Whangarei Harbour. Helped create it as a kid 60 plus years ago

At the end of the walk / bicycle way is a bay that is well known to locals as a safe place to swim - 2 hours before and 2 hours after high tide. A sandy bottom bay (I wear swim shoes as there are a few rocks around), steps and hand rail from road to water, and plenty of parking. At high tide there is a childrens pool which is sectioned off by a row of rocks from the sea, for smaller children Beside the bay is a little park, with a table and seats and is a great place for a picnic. At low tide you can climb across the rock to the point marker.

Quiet, beautiful, and serene, if you're looking a place to eat fish n chips undisturbed. Can't eat it all?? Then share with the birds who keep the grassy verges clean....
