One of the loveliest meals we have eaten in New Zealand. We took the opportunity to “let them feed us”, so we had a taster of almost all of the items in their seasonal menu. Every detail from the placement of the edible flowers on the radicchio and pickled fig salad to the little grape jellies on the porcini mushroom pate layered onto a wonderful crisp to the pickled feijoa and red onions on the raw king fish … perfection. Salty, sweet, acidic balance through every dish. Their music selection was thoughtful and added to the ambiance. My only (little) complaint is that the space needs a touch more cushioning/tapestry to dampen the sound as it was extremely challenging to hold a conversation - it got very loud when all seats were filled in the intimate space.

I'm just going to put it out there. Best dinner experience in New Zealand. Been to all the majors cities twice. Big foodie, unfortunately I didn't enjoy most/all restaurants. Gatherings, however, gives me hope that future of New Zealands food and beverage industry is looking bright. Best of luck.

Had an amazing dinner with my wife. The flounder was out of this world, loved how it was cooked on a little fire out the back. The service was friendly and personable, and the place has a nice cosy atmosphere. Would return!

Had the chef's selection, all the dishes were exquisite with a lot of depth in flavour. The star dishes were the flounder and the flatbread, the tamarillo and stracciacella was unquie and interesting. Look forward to trying their summer menu.

We were happy that we managed to book a place in this tiny and saught-after place. The fish and titi were special and delicious. The only issue is that the bookings are limited to 1.5 and we got our food after 45 minutes. We felt the time pressure, which is not something that you necessary want with an experience of this sort.

Amazing food here at Gatherings. The Let us Feed you option was so plentiful and meant we could all indulge in so many different things. The fish, the celery, clams and asparagus were my favourites and the bread with the garlic was sensational.All the wines are natural which I enjoyed trying- not sure I am converted but it’s good to open your mind to doing something new.The only little disappointment was we were rushed at the end. If you are only really finishing your mains with 10 mins left for dessert, that doesn’t give you reasonable time. I think on a Friday/Saturday night a minimum two hours should be given especially with a “feed us” option as one of the offerings. The staff were apologetic about it though and it won’t stop me from going back but I would probably book a later table to avoid it from happening. We managed to get into Londo next door to have more drinks so the night finished off well.

Gatherings restaurant fits very well with our philosophy of fresh, local food for sharing. The restaurant is small and intimate. The food is high-end but affordable and the vibe is super relaxed. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and they tell you everything about each dish. The wine selection is amazing and they go out of their way to source natural and local wines and spirits. A very amazing night with my partner to celebrate our 7th anniversary here. I love the langostine tails very much, it’s the similar flavor with Chinese cuisine.

Went for the 'Feed Me' option which is $68 per person. It was a delightful experience and very reasonably priced - every dish was delicious and innovative! I could really tell that the chef was passionate about each dish served. The crispy eggplants with the butter curry sauce was my favourite and blew my mind with the taste. Staff were also welcoming and knowledgeable. Very pleasant experience that I highly recommend

Some of the best food in Christchurch! Cassoulet is one hard dish to make properly, they even have cassoulet accredited restaurants in France, and this fish cassoulet was as good as those ones in France. Insanely tasty! I could eat that all day.
