Only called in for a coffee en route to our campground. Fabulous location with a great view spoilt today by the lashing rain. The lodge provided a warm welcome on a miserable day.

Picturesque views of the ocean, great friendly staff, service is amazing and the food is fantastic, Have a game of pool whilst you wait or simply sit outside enjoy the view while you have a few. The shop next door sells great ice cream or fresh fish (caught right out the front) and chips. Great spot to break away from the hustle and bustle . Well known for its fishing and amazingly friendly people.

Stopped here for lunch. Really lovely staff and a delicious simple toasted sandwich and cold beer for lunch. A beautiful view of the bay.

Stayed in the accommodation at the rear. Had one of the box tv's from the 80's (that didn't work) and a heater that also didn't work. Power was off for 3 hours due to weather which was great as it made us all talk" to one another. Smelt like a dog had stayed in the room. Very basicbut the showers and kitchen were clean and tidy. And yes we would stay again if we were passing through. But maybe upgrade to the accommodation above the hotel. Enjoyed our drinks at the pub."

Would never stay there again, really unwelcome reception, felt that it was because we looked European ( but I’m not), gang members regularly buying alcohol from behind the pub, doing wheelies etc, we were abused just for being in the vicinity. Had a nice meal in the restaurant and the young lady serving etc was lovely.Was threatened buy locals just driving around, we decided not to go any further on our trip along the east coast & headed inland where we felt welcome, safe and spent our limited funds. Wow, we are westies from way back, now live in the heart of Ngapuhi and have never experienced behaviour like this before, sad ☹️.

The food here is so friken good and I definately recommend having a few cold ones at the bar. Such amazing and friendly staff.

A wonderful stay. Wished we could have stayed longer. We had the upstairs room at the front with a fantastic verandah and views. Staff were very helpful. We loved it. We had dinner from the bar snacks menu. Best fish burger I have ever had. Husband had seafood basket, and loved it.

Looks great and believe it would be great, but couldn't get a proper coffee as machine broken.
